We came from very humble beginnings, and even fresh fruit was a luxury, especially in winter.

So, to me, the true spirit of Christmas is embodied best by fresh fruit in my stocking:

I used to love chocolate covered cherries, and would be ecstatic if I got any. I have upgrade to dark chocolate truffles now. My favorite cookie though was the Pizzelle shaped like a snowflake with powdered sugar on top. YUM!!!

PSSST! If anyone knows where I can find me a pizzelle maker shaped like a snowflake, let me know. I want to make these a tradition again.

Samantha Sheppard

You might try Crate & Barrel or William Sonoma.  There used to be a shop in N Cherry Creek, Cooks’ Mart I think.  You might also try the Christmas market near Bed, Bath & Beyond in Cherry Creek.

My sister makes dark chocolate fudge with walnuts from a recipe handed to her from our granny. Just got a tin full of the heavenly fudge from her Monday. Almost gone already.

So, rice crispy treats, covered with chocolate fudge and topped with red & green M&Ms. Perfect!

As a kid, my Mom lied and told us these come out once a year during the holidays.  So, these are my favorite Christmas treats...and year round too!  3830687_trtls_original_carton_183g_3d.pn
