For whom is she normalizing her lifestyle - - daughter or self? I I get it. It's OK with me that she lives as she does. Does she want her daughter feel free to choose this lifestyle out of all possible lifestyles when she grows up? I see your point and share some of your feelings. If I had ever had children, I certainly would not be doing this, but that’s my choice. I have that luxury. I’m not depending on this for my survival. While it makes me feel uncomfortable to think about it, the same situation cannot be said for a lot of the women on the other side of this. I’m not giving this woman a ‘thumbs up’. But I’m not in her shoes and can’t judge her or any other woman in her position, either. I’m not even sure why it’s an article worth writing. People have to abase themselves to survive? During my many years as a strip club DJ,followed by two decades of running J.R.'s Stripteasers,I found the opposite to be true. The majority of the girls worked their way through college as strippers because it was better pay than working at McDonalds (example ) and allowed more time for study.Upon graduation,their student loans were paid off and they moved on from stripping to the jobs they majored in. She was brilliant and we had many discussions about many topics, including her working as a stripper. She wound up suing Sid King after she got pregnant because he wouldn't let her work...even as a bartender. He fired her after she got pregnant according to her. She used to tell us that she worked there to help pay her way through school. She would tell me I was lucky because I had the GI Bill to pay for my schooling. Or some of us have just had very different experiences. I've dated 4 strippers and married another. All 5 relationships were volatile to say the least. Everything from throwing knives at other strippers to smuggling feces into the club to dump into another girl's clothes bag. When they got tired of the girls at the club or ran out of targets, they'd turn on the closest thing to them. As far as the rags to riches stories go. I rarely ever saw that. What I did see were girls with needle scars, gang tats, Russians indebted to Moscow mafia members, and not one thought about where they were going five days from then let alone 5 years. I'm sure there are girl's who have their shit together and can make a future for themselves along that path. I've just not seen it. If I were a mom, making a shit ton of cash, the last person I would be thinking about would be me. I would make it my fucking mission in life to make sure my child gets a fair chance and the opportunity of decision. Because most of the women I came across at strip clubs had neither of those things. Guess I'll just have to be a hypocrite.
