I know why I decided to get started with all this, got divorced, not really ready to start dating- truthfully I've been on several free dates. But I just don't feel like putting in the time or effort in it, at least not yet. But a man has urges. So why did you get started in all this? Would love to hear from providers as well. Let the JLC bashing begin... This is a reasonable question -- heck I don't even remember it being brought up recently (if at all). Originally, it was a divorce for me as well. Later, even though "free dates" came easily enough, the hobby was a way to indulge my urges in an environment where there was less pressure -- there are almost always "strings attached" with non-providers. Then, during a later marriage where the frequency dropped off, it was even simpler -- just getting laid. I'd say the common theme across time is what many have said here -- when you hire a hooker, you're not paying her for sex, you're paying her to leave. Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) hey jlc, this is a fine thread OP. i'm sure 2big will dig up some previous shit and post his famous head-slap photo, but i digress. i've given more thought to my motivations lately due to unfortunate circumstances, but here's my take, fwiw. i got started because the SO became a raging alcoholic 15 years into our marriage and i had [snip] consider, so divorce wasn't a good option for many reasons. it was either find a civilian mistress with all the attendant difficulties, do this, or jack off in the shower for the duration. honestly, part of it had to do with the opportunity to do exciting things i ordinarily wouldn't have, and there have been both good and bad experiences. but overall this was a reasonable accommodation for me. eventually, it wasn't even strictly about the sex. along the way i've met many fantastic women and had lots of great times with relatively little downside, so no regrets at all. whether i'll continue remains an open question. Posted May 27, 2013 I really enjoy sex. For me it's like therapy. It relieves all the aches and pains and emotional stress. Way back when, I was in a relationship and the sex was good. I was always doing all the work though. She didn't put much effort into it as much as me. She also wasn't willing to please me because of past life experiences. Soon she only wanted sex less and less, and so did I. It's a much nicer experience when both partner are willing to please eachother mutually. At the end of the relationship (after 6 years), I started going to AMPs then eventually I looked for an escort. Posted May 27, 2013 You get to a point in life where you think of what you haven't done instead of your achievements. I was curious about the workings of "the biz" and wanted to try something different. So far, all my experiences have been pretty good. And I echo the sentiment that it's a great form of therapy. Posted May 28, 2013 Ah, this is a long and sad story that I have therapeutically outlined in these archives. And some sage veterans have provided a virtual shoulder to cry on (so to speak) via PM. I started FBSM (not even sure that is "hobbying") because of a militant lack of affection from my wife. We have been married about 19 years, and for about six years now, the sex has been roughly quarterly. I am still attracted to my wife, still love her, and she still loves me. She just does not have the urge. We have talked about it a lot, but nothing really changes. One lovely lady who posts frequently on this board did agree to see me for an actual FS session, but my schedule, and eventually my nerve, did not mesh. Posted May 28, 2013 I got into the hobby due to being extremely hurt by a past ex walking out on me. Dating life after that was met with lots and lots of rejection. Figured I had nothing to lose and gave the hobby a try and I'm glad I did. Very good experiences so far.
