Posted September 9, 2018 I seriously need to develop new habits! I know others who don't answer the phone. Yet, there I am always answering the phone as soon as it rings. Just ridiculous how we have to live our lives not doing something out of fear of being scammed by the wolves of our world... Thank you guys I appreciate your efforts with helping me and Yes, I do pay my taxes and have since I first started filing. I hold money aside for the year, I know I should file quarterly, but damn who's that freaking organised?! I remember when we didn't have answering machines and I also remember learning to dial my number when it was rotary dial phones (was about 5 years old)...Ya, that's what I learned on! Have now learned to work an Iphone (somewhat). So, what's next for us all? Maybe, implant phones? lol our bodies will reject spam callers!

I miss the hell out of my grand parents! Don’t get me going on antiques. You have yet to see the inside of my little place. 😂😂 I would love a candlestick phone! Posted September 16, 2018 I’m so stupid that I got caught in this scam. Couldn’t believe it. I was on the site SA and was new. One of the gals wanted to chat on google hangouts. She started undressing and showing all and I send her back a revealing photo she wanted. When your on hangout they now have access to your friends list. They emailed back this list on messenger and wanted 800.00 now or they would email my photo to all my contacts. I ignored them and nothing further happened. I may be stupid but a lot smarter now.

Posted November 6, 2018 Yeah!!! I finally got one too! I was feeling quite left out. Actually, I think mine is a cheap knock off. The e-mail mentioned a password I have never heard of or used. The usual suggestions that trying to find him is impossible since he sent the e-mail to me FROM me. It could all disappear, including his "rat software" self destructing from my system for only $863...in bitcoin. Alas...the deadline passed a couple days ago, so if you never hear from me again, it means I have been exposed and shamed into obscurity, or that my computer imploded....hahahahahah.

Sarah Krouse, reporting for WSJ:Caller ID is feeding one of the very problems it was developed to stop: junk calls. Illegitimate robocallers, or outfits that flood American landlines with marketing calls, use the decades-old identification system to make money, even when no one picks up. While scammers' biggest paydays come from tricking victims into handing over credit card or bank account information asking for e-mails, many robocallers make incremental cash along the way, thanks to little-known databases that try to identify who is calling. Each time a caller's name is displayed, phone companies pay small fees -- typically fractions of pennies -- to databases that store such records. Some of these fees are handed back to the caller. With millions of automated calls a day, the amounts can add up. "It's slow nickels, not fast dimes" for scammers, but it helps offset the costs of making the calls, said Aaron Woolfson, president of TelSwitch, a company that licenses out telecommunications-billing software. ______________________ AnD if not already Registered:: The Do Not Call Registry accepts registrations from both cell phones and land lines. There is a blackmail scam going around where they claim that they have you on webcam stealing/watching porn and demand payment, lest they tell your friends/family/employer. Basically, if you've ever been caught up in a website breach, they have enough info to make it sound legit. Expect these type of emails to keep coming, just turning into other "embarrassing" topics over time. For example, on a different board, person said that they got a phone call from a burner number threatening them for torrenting files using breached data as "proof" that they know who this is and what they did. Usual warnings: don't use same password everywhere, use a password manager so that you can use random passwords and not have to remember them, and be savvy when getting these. https://gizmodo.com/dont-fall-for-this-scam-claiming-you-were-recorded-watc-1827557323 Thanks, NoCoGeezer Its really helpful information appreciate it.

Posted December 11, 2020 I had an attempt to blackmail me, saying they had "verified" my place of work, my home address and my friends and wanted $500.00 or they would send all me contact info to those folks. I laughed and told them to go ahead. I then crushed my Trac Phone (paid cash for it and access card} Went to a place away from my home town, spend $45.00 for a triple minuet phone, 20 bucks for a card, and had a new number in less than a day. FWIW There was no such information on my hobby phone, but it was getting kinda old anyway
