Hell, pretty soon they'll have cameras on the hotel TVs and Big Brother will be watching you.

Hopefully this is a data base that never gets off the ground. Odds are pretty good it won't work if they're relying on volunteers to submit the photos. But if the do-gooders in Congress get on their good-intentions-bandwagon theyll require all hotels to submit pics of every hotel In the country (how many is that? In the millions I would guess). Half the restrictions on our freedoms have been enacted under the banner of 'save the children.' I'm definitely voting libertarian this time.

A cautionary note.   This is a link to a video report.  The audio was quite loud on my computer.   Be sure to turn your volume off if you are in a public area.

There is text to read also.

While this may be overstating things, surveillance of all the public spaces in and around hotels is a reality. And cooperation between hotel operators and LE to rid our communities of trafficking (as they define it) is on the rise. The woman who will most likely become the new Denver DA is campaigning on it.

I see a HD digital web based high tech version of the old hotel detective as in the black and white movies of olden times.

Big Brother is not just watching. He is taking notes.

Anyone read the book 1984 recently? Big brother has no business nosing around like this. This type of government bs really pissed me off. Next thing you know well have hidden cameras in our TV so we can be spied on. They already rewrite history.

Actually, doing porn in the state of Colorado is illegal. Heck, doing porn in the US is illegal, but some states have found loopholes around it. I just wish everyone would quit telling me how to have sex(or not to).

I actually kind of like this idea as the thought that people are forced to do this saddens me, and trying to catch them is tricky so if it was used solely for the purpose of catching traffickers-then I am for it. If they want to tell me how to do the wild thing, then they can shove it up their...

If its all on hidden camera that makes it porn right?  Which is legal.

So we just all just need to get porn licenses or whatnot..

Has nothing to do with porn.  It is getting people in a hotel room for any reason to submit photos of the room to be entered into a google images type data base to allow LE to search BP and other ads against and ultimately identify which hotels are booking escorts and/or what hotel a certain escort is in.

Sadly, Samantha according to the feds and the do gooder groups YOU ARE being trafficked. This little plot is to get more vigilanties involved in getting YOU busted for your adult choices (and your clients) and getting law enforcement and sociologists grant money and allowing DA's to posture for higher office, etc.  If it were truly aimed at underage exploitation and enslavement i would be all for it.  Unfortunately by current definitions under law and action ANY form of prostitution regardless of age of participants and willingness is defined as trafficking. Those that truly use minors or even adults by literal force deserve to be hung by their genitalia in the public square.  Unfortunately all these activists and grant seeking LE's snare mainly willing adults and make no distinction.  IMHO

I made the unfortunate mistake of starting an argument on facebook about this. It's a horrible idea. Consenting adults will be arrested as a result and the unfortunate trafficking victims will just be put through the system and not get the help they're promised or that the general public believes they get.

The only clever part of the whole thing is asking the general population to help. It's not spying it's building a database. And since people are so convinced that there are an overwhelming number of American trafficking victims they will do their part. No Big Brother needed.

Believe me, I know! Seen it to many times from the cops to the providers about how it is for their safety that they are busting them...blah, blah, blah!!! Religion and politics is such a pain in our arse! Why can't we all just get laid, and get along?! ;-)

If they used it for a valid reason, I would say sure, but I know they won't! Laws would work better if they made them more specific instead of generalizing them to fit their own agendas. Ugh!

If I buy the 1984 dvd will I be put on some watch list then?

I'm actually curious now to know how many members here are politicians, cause those are the only ones above the law and able to skirt any LE issues.

And after seeing the founding fathers on Hist  Channel I figure I have to join a secret society like Ben Franklin did.  and the internet is NOT secret.

Why not try 'reading' the book. It is an excellent read. And written way before the dvd came along ;-)

Yes.  Read the book!

Also, read "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley.

They were both prescient men, who captured different aspects of the future we were heading for.  Between the two of them, they get it right.

If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever.” ― George Orwell, 1984.

Wait, they made a movie? Terrible idea! It's not a big book, 328 pages give or take. I could read it in a day. Someone else a week of nightly reading. You get invested in the characters though. Makes you think and then say oh shit this is happening now.

One of the greatest weapons a person can have is the ability to read.

Does it count as reading if I turn the captioning on?

That might get you the Cliff's Notes version. 🍅

No it doesn't count. I'm gonna have to watch it just so I can see how they messed it up.  Movies and books rarely match up. Look how the great gatsby turned out. Great cinematic visuals, terrible movie.

The book is MUCH better than the movie.

I'm tempted to take a picture of a hotel room and send it in with the following note: "I authorize use of this picture for the purpose of stopping sex trafficking and sexual exploitation of minors.  I do not authorize use of this picture for the purpose of stopping or interfering with consensual activities between adults.  I am requesting to be paid a sum of $100,000 in the event of unauthorized use of this picture.  By accepting this picture, you agree to the terms of the contract."

Of course, 1984 assumed that surveillance would be involuntarily placed upon us by a tyrannical government.  Oh no.

For want of better communication to set up our appointments with clients/ASPs through web companies like Google (sharing gmail contents) and facebook (easily the best way to stalk someone...and the government knows it), we are voluntarily assisting big brother.  Hell, we even voluntarily buy the 1984 Telescreens.

Then, you have to drive somewhere to see you client or ASP. Your license plate gets scanned several times on the way there.  And again when the police routinely scan your license plate in the hotel parking lot.  ACLU warning

And how about your "burner phone?" Think it provides you with "secure anonymous communications?" Think Again.

And now, for want of better "selfies," there are going to be thousands of cell phones on the market with powerful imaging systems capable of facial recognition and Iris scanning.  Think you have privacy going into that incall or outcall, now???

Not trying to scare anyone.  In fact, hiding in plain sight may be our last recourse in this business.  But the surveillance state is starting to get really, really, scary.

And just because you're paranoid,  doesn't mean they're not out to get you! After today's events, I think anything is possible.  I just sent off for my tiny foil hat.

What makes you think they can't already see you through your TV? That's part of what the big change from analog to digital was about a few years ago.

No reason for a hidden camera.   We willingly SKYPE and FACETIME through our "SMART TV".    We,  not me,  have welcomed big brother into our homes.

2+2=5, doublethink, thoughtcrime, omnipresent government surveillance....wow, pretty spot on.  H/T to all here for having an actual conversation without name calling or even others flat wrong... Even some encouragement to read! Huh, maybe us freethinkers are on to something... Special shout outs to Laplace & Melissa! Laplace you're absolutely correct & its Huxley's vision coupled with Orwell's that's mutated & overstimulated/ yet sedated society.  Melissa you're certainly accurate that the history is re-written & worse yet manipulated on the fly. Yellow Journalism taken to an uglier yet level.  I like reading the forum regularly & even decided lurking in the shadows wasn't going to be as much fun as participating.

Watch out for this major 3rd party coming in this year.  Looks good in theory & but sure did our country in 104 years ago.

certainly going to be interesting, and this is the only time I'll ever quote Jimmy Buffett, "let's all get drunk & screw"...
