Bad back

31 posts in this topic

Ok, here it goes.

With advancing age comes new problems. Never though it would happen to me (like us all)

My back has been giving me problems for over 2 months.

I've given up the "this too shall pass" and have been seeing a chiro 2 times a week for the past 2 weeks who tells me "not to worry"

Truth is I AM WORRIED. I can't do the things I like to do, including sex. I laid on the couch for a couple weeks with really no results. No heavy lifting no repetive motion. (see no sex) lol

I'm looking for advice including but not limited to how to have fun with a aching back. I've always been a healthy, strong man and this kind of came out of let field. A pain in the "back" to say the least.

Thanks all!

I have had a bad lower back now for 8 years. Yesterday I tweaked it by just turning to wipe my ass (I know its funny). This happens to be 4 or 5 times a year. I have found the best thing to do is walk and to stretch your legs and hips. I have found that when I get lazy, I tighten up and it pulls on my back.

The worst thing you can do for a bad back is sit and rest all the time. It will make it worse.

Hope that helps.

One other thing, if you sleep on your stomach, stop. It took me about a week, but it will help a lot.

Stretch, stretch, stretch! After rupturing my two lowest discs I had to have some of them removed. You learn to live with a little bit of pain. You can mitigate it by stretching every morning. Remember your hamstrings and your back are basically one unit so stretch accordingly. I know sometimes it hurts so bad all you want to do is lay flat and not move. Don't do it. Make your self get up and walk. It will hurt at first but at the end of the day you'll feel worse if you just lay there.

First of all, ditch the Quackopractor and go see a real Dr. They can give you anti-inflamatory drugs and get you started on some Physical Therapy. If that does not solve the problem, then you can have an MRI done.

As others have said, stretching and doing abdominal exercises will give you a lifetime of back relief.

Send me a PM if you need more information.

I agree with the suggestions on strengthening your core, but if you are looking to have fun, visit some FBSM ladies. Sometimes (not always, but sometimes) it's nice to just lay on your back and let the lady drive! Many are trained CMT's, so it could be the best of both worlds for you!

I agree that you need to ditch the chiropractor. They almost ruined my shoulder and can do more damage than good.

I herniated a disc in my back a little over seven years ago and have re-injured it a couple of times since. I have found that three things help: walking, icing with cold packs, and sex. I keep trying to get my HMO to pick up 80% of the cost of an escort, but no luck.

After a really bad re-injury a few years ago I did go to a chiropractor (at my doctor's suggestion), but not for the regular treatment. They did this spine stretching thing on a machine they had. At first the pain actually got worse but eventually I got a lot better.

It is usually more fun if both of us are able to move around, however, with personal experience, you can just lay there and let one of us non FBSM ladies make you feel good and satisfied without any complaints on our end. ( ;

Inkspot is 100% correct. Chiropractors are charlatans. I have worked with serious physical therapists from established and respected academic programs such as Harvard, Duke, etc. They will unabashedly tell you that chiropractors do not operate with evidence-based protocols, and that means EVERYTHING.

These people have MDs and doctorates in physical therapy and ZERO respect for chiropractors. For god's sake, go to a good PT or an orthopedist if you have the money/insurance. Strengthening and stretching is the key, NOT bullshit spinal adjustments. I wish you luck.

You will be fucking whores again, but it will take time and hard work.

Everybody's experience with chiropractors is different. I had chronic hip and lower back pain for several years until I started chiropractic treatment. The pain was apparently related to soft tissue and body alignment, rather than degenerated or injured disks. Chiropractic treatment totally eliminated the pain, and I have had no recurrence in ten years. No drugs needed. I'm 70 years old, and moving more easily than when i was 55. Reputable chiropractors use x-rays to help in diagnosis and treatment, particularly for chronic pain.

By the way, i was a fairly rabid non-believer in chiropractic until my experience.

That is an anecdote, and has nothing to do with actual evidence that demonstrates efficacy. Most chiropractors will eliminate your pain in about 14 days, whereas if you did nothing it would go away in two weeks.

There are plenty of sexual positions that don't require you to do any 'work':D

There have also been lots of studies that show that sex can help with pain management.

Perhaps some cock worship is what you need??

A good physical therapist will be able to address your specific needs, its different for everybody.

In general, strengthen AND stretch, legs/hips and the entire core.

Have you tried getting an xray?

Here's one of mine:

Now why do they call it a boner when clearly there is nothing there or is your pecker just to small to make out?:D

Yesterday I tweaked it by just turning to wipe my ass

I suggest you quit wiping your ass!

I'm so conflicted on how to respond to this... :P

There are really bad chiropractors out there who depend on the "repeat business" model. They keep you coming back by not fixing you, or actually making you worse. I know two people who were crippled by bad chiropractors. I also know a couple people who were completely fixed by good chiropractors. My advice, absolutely avoid independent chiropractors (who have no restraint on their greed) and only use chiropractors associated with larger organizations. Most sports medicene facilities will have a chiropractor on staff.

I had chronic lower back problems for years and started doing easy Yoga classes and it changed my life. When I do get the occasional spasm it will go away in a day or so as opposed to the three weeks it took before. I do yoga twice a week and lots of stretching and weights the other days. My problem with chiros was that they help I did get was very temporary. Your doctor can give you muscle relaxants which can help. Again, I haven't called for them in years.

Good and bad in every profession, but agree with most of the advice here that Chiro is not the way to go. Go see a good PT and give it time. My back flares up 1-2 times per year, then goes away. Yoga/core strengthening is they way to go. Pillow between the knees and sleep on your side, not on your stomach.

After 8 visits to the Chirosnapper

I can happliy report that I'm FINALLY getting some relief.

I don't know if its from the visits to his office or from the natural healing process and really I don't care at this point. I'm just happy to be able to put on my socks and tye my shoes with out feeling like I'm going to pass out from the pain in my lower back. I'm by no means am I 100% yet, but I have to admit, the skeptic that I am, THIS HAS HELPED ME A LOT. Thanks to all of you that have given me such good advice. I really appreciate it. I've taken it all into consideration and have given it much thought. I'll keep you posted on my recovery as well. You are all great people and I thank you much for your concern and the advice you've given me.

Hey Sparkey, glad you are feeling better.

You're getting a lot of traffic in this thread because almost everyone, at some point, deals with back pain. I agree strongly with Ink and PitBull that you should avoid chiropractors entirely. Your GP or a neurologist would be far better. Since I've been "around the block" with back troubles, here's some more unsolicited advice:

(*) There's an old expression that you should look for horses instead of zebras. In other words, look for the most common problems first. The most common cause of back pain is a pulled muscle or a mild slipped disc. In the common case (as Ink says) anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAIDs) with exercise (like swimming) helps a lot.

(*) If you have a more serious problem(like I did 15 yrs ago), the things to look for would be pain when lying down (motionless), weakness or numbness in your legs, bowel or bladder problems, or sciatica (pain radiating down your butt into the back of your legs). If you have any of those symptoms, I would see a neurologist and get an MRI right away.

What better place to receive medical advice than a forum devoted to escorts!;)

Only 44 posts to Mr. Josh, but I hope you post more, because that was interesting. There is a lot of wisdom on this board, because the "customers" come from all walks of life, and many of us do quite well in our chosen fields. If we didn't, it's not likely we could do this in the first place.

I agree with you 100%

I now have a greater sympathy for people that say they have a "bad back"

This whole experience has been very eye opening to me and has taught me a lot about myself and the limitations I should be following. Damn, getting older is a bitch and it was not in the brochure........

Wow a hot discussion of Chiro's... happened to stop by here with upcoming business trip to Denver.

My experience with 3 Chiros over many decades has been excellent. Depends on what the cause is. In my case, have chronic neck tension which pulls the back and neck out of alignment. The result is headaches that is too strong for usual relief pills. Solved in 2 ways or combine both.

1) For about the last 15 years, had a really great VERY deep muscle massage therapist. Very few are deep enough in the right area. <snip> Sadly she has tumors which may be cancer (at age about 45) and is out of business. Yet to re-find someone as good.

2) Or... since the neck tension pulls out the back/neck structure have a great Chiro who simply whenever I have the headache, get fast fix to put back in place which always works and headache gone about an hour later. Now without the massage gal, the Chiro works. Massage also worked by releasing the tension that was pulling neck out of alignment.

Decade or so ago I first went to his wife (they met in Chiro school) since I preferred women even if non sexual. But she wasn't strong enough for my strong neck! Turns out husband who now see <snip> comes from Canada in a smaller town I always go by from Niagara/Hamilton/Toronto to enjoy the sexual adult freedoms of Canada without the U.S. legal issues. Especially nude-reverse-release massages from beautiful women I wish I could find in Phoenix (or Denver!).

Once was so bad Chiro recommended a DO who solved it by a cortisone shot - fast relief but only needed that once. Chiro fast adjustment solves ever since. I pay $26 for a quick friendly effective adjustment.

Yep, and the chiros laugh all the way to the bank as they do absolutely nothing for you beyond the placebo effect. NOTHING.

I have spoken with Harvard Medical School faculty on this subject, and they have said unprintable things about chiros. They laugh HARD about those $30 adjustments and basically say, "It's an amazing way to fleece the rubes."

But hey, if the placebo works, take it.
