Help me understand the 2X std and written verification rationale

18 posts in this topic

First I apologize to those that bitch and moan if some made a similar post in the last decade....for those of us who don't have the time to research archived posts or hqve been on TOB when time began here I go....

Why is it ok for providers to use an alias but not a hobbyist? I get the need to screen that the person is not LE but that can be done pretty reliably via P411 and I presume other similar services.

I recently had a dinner date booked and the provider wanted me to put in an email my real name and other personal details. I am on P411 and have lots of oks which seemed to satisfy the provider to book the appt but she later came back to me wanting more info. I am happy to speak to someone and give some private info name rank serial number but feel like once it's in writing in an email it can get used by or found out easier by those we want to keep the hobby from....I thanked the provider wished her the best but said if speaking on the phone to confirm my personal details was not acceptable then we should call off the date. Which I did....

So all this got me thinking again why is it ok for a provider to use an alias but not a hobbyist? And why do some providers insist on written email details on hobbyist? Anything written and sent electronically has so many ways to be traced back to the author and how do hobbyist know what lengths a provider goes to delete digital info on their electronic devices?

Just asking and honestly curious.... Again apologize if these questions have been raised in past.

Like you, I have a P411 account with several OKs. I can see no reason why a provider would want additional information. It seems odd to me that she initially booked an appointment with you and only required more information later. Maybe she just got a bad vibe for some reason and wanted to cover all her bases. I’m just guessing though. I’ve never had that happen.

I don’t use an alias, but I generally only give my first name to providers. They’ve always seemed fine with that. None of the ladies has ever asked me what my full name was.

It's her business, so she gets to decide how she runs it. She can require customers to wear face paint, and take limbo lessons, if she wants. Unlike the woman you tried to see, most girls require very little.

On the other hand, the customers get to decide who gets their dollars.

It's really that simple. :)

I really like they way you insult everyone that is not the same as you before you ask the very same people for advice.

Each girl does what makes her feel comfortable. If it doesn't work for you, MOVE ON. Ranting about it on TOB doesn't make it go away, so why not just go on about your business and find someone that works for you and HAVE FUN? On the flip side of the token, us girls could say "why does the client not want to see me if I work at the motel6 on federal?" but we already know it's because you would probably be uncomfortable at that location, so we respect that.

We are still in the USA, so she can ask for anything she wants and you can ask anything you want. Doesn't mean either are going to get what they want.

What everyone says is true -- girls run their business as they see fit; you either like it or you don't.

But in answer to your curiosity, I can't speak for others, but I can speak for myself.

Why I want your real name and I don't have to tell you mine:

1. I'm nervous about legal issues, and verifying that you're a real person is important.

2. I get that you're nervous about legal issues, which is your perogative, but the odds of LE spending umpteen dollars and man hours to try to track you down are slim to none. They'd much rather try to track ME down.

3. I'm nervous about psychos beating/raping me. Verifying a real name can help prevent such issues.

4. If you're safety conscious, consider that providers who screen harder are generally busted less.

5. Eliot Spitzer got caught with a hooker. He now has his own TV show. If a political figure got caught working as an escort, he/she would shock the nation and never be seen again. In other words, there's differences between you and me. Lots of them. The same standards cannot apply to both. For you, this is a hobby. For me, this is my livelihood, and it's dangerous.

6. Arguing with me on any of the above points is a waste of time; I've made up my mind. I understand that you may well have made up yours, and that's great -- by all means, see providers who are willing to accept your rules. I would not... but it doesn't mean we can't be friends. :)

I don't see anything wrong with your question, but I do agree with the others that say it's her business and her choice on how to run it.

Just like someone else said though, it's also your choice not to see her and dish out the funds.

Personally, I've never had the issue, but if I did........I have my own set of codes that I do not stray from. I don't give out any personal information over the phone or e-mail. My loss, her loss, I could care less.

Destiny it was not my intent to insult anyone with my opening to my original post .... Guess I was a bit cranky when I posted so sorry to those I may have insulted with the opening.....

To all who shared their points of view on my question..... Thanks I appreciate your perspective and agree with most all.....

You have the ability to research her through reviews and posts. Other than P411 there is no way for her to know anything about you.

This is what happens when guys give their real names.

Or have we forgotten so soon.

The OP brought up an interesting question about what kind of records are available once LE does bother to track you or any other ladies down. Independent or agency it seems like more times than not that there's always a list.

That's the question that hasn't been addressed yet and has nothing to do with who has the right to see or spend money on whomever. For myself I've never had a problem showing proof I was a "real" person with gov. or work ID, utility bill or pay stub. I've been asked for all those and more at one time or another. I see a big difference though in sending that same kind of personal through a medium that's both seizable and hackable. It's not just LE that hack into such records; so a visit from a jealous boyfriend is not out of the realm of possibility either.

There is no real "safety" for the providers as how is she going to tell the difference in a stolen or made up identity; but there is a very big and real danger to the honest client that gives up his real identity.

BTW Bev...it's good to have you back.;)

I do not see the harm in giving you my real name, its not like Im gonna give you my SS# and other important information. If I speak to a person on the phone and I get a bad vibe then I wouldnt give out my name. There are other ways to find out if a provider is legit and safe, so really there is no need to give out your name. I dont ask guys their names they usually tell me their name when we meet or call anyways lol.. Thats why its important to screen, get references and do your homework to be safe..

The ramifications of a vindictive provider posting your personal information on the internet have been discussed at great length on TOB. Never underestimate the wrath of a scorned woman.

Ask Frugger what he thinks.

I agree with Bev and Bigguy. I understand that some bad things can happen with outing.... all part of the game on both sides I guess though.

And that's a damn fine point: this hobby is risky, on both sides. There are things you can do to mitigate the risks, but in the end, you're both rolling the dice a bit.

How much risk you can reasonably cope with is up to you. Want no risk? Don't play.

thanks CH. But I'm not saying there's NO risk to a guy giving out his name. What I'm saying is do the math -- how often do men's names get released, versus how often escorts are busted? Radical difference. And let's not forget psycho providers, too -- though I think those risks can be mitigated with careful research, reviews, etc. Still, it happens.

Yes, there are risks for the guys. Absolutely. But I'm talking odds, here.

Again, if it's too risky, don't play.

Hookers aren't rational.

Make a list of 5 hos.

Call until you find one who isn't interested in finding out your real name.

Trust me, you won't have to go far down your list.

There, I solved your problem. At any rate, most girls care only about names like Jackson and Franklin

But I do have this funny story:

Some years ago, I had business in Philadelphia. I call this escort agency to book a girl. The madam was dumb as a pile of bricks. She wants my office phone number, so she can "verify" me. It's a Saturday. Me: There is no point in calling, there's nobody in the office on a Saturday. She didn't get that, kept arguing with me, until I just cut her off and told her to go fuck herself.

The problem with screening is not the exchange of information. It's the retention of it.

There is NO need for providers to retain clients' information after an appointment. Providers, if you want to keep info, then scramble it so that no one else can make sense of it.

Funnily I'll never forget the lady who kept her other clients' business cards on her kitchen table at her incall. I don't know why she did that.

However, hobbyists who have been outed were way too indiscreet. You want to hobby and be able to sleep at night? Then:

-Don't use agencies using your real name. The scale and public nature of those operations exposes you to lots of local and federal LE risk.

-Don't use a phone number that can be tracked to you. Get a hobby phone or GV.

-Don't leave a paper trail. Anyone who uses wire transfers or credit cards is asking for trouble on many fronts.

-Don't see ladies who don't conduct their business like professionals. Way too many loose ends are left. For example, don't see providers who see clients at a zumba studio that you're a member of.

-Limit the number of ladies you see.

-Use your spidey sense and stay away from crazy ones. If you happen to see 1, cut your losses after 1 session and don't return.

^^^^^^^^^^^^This!^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This is why you never give personal information to a provider. sure there are some providers who don't keep this information. but what are the odds that you will book with one of the 2 in 10,000 that don't?
