Greetings fellow OtherBoarders! I have a question for all of you. Do you use social media (ie Twitter, FaceBook, whatever else the kids are using these days) to connect with providers? I've looked at a few provider Twitter feeds form around the US and I am not sure it is a good medium for connecting with clients. Do some of you have a hobby social media handle? If not, when you see a FB or Twitter link on a provider's site do you check it out? How effective is SM for a provider from a hobbyists view? Thanks for your time in answering my poll.

I would like twitter to reach a critical mass where it's full of providers. However there aren't many on there so I don't pay much attention to it for hobby purposes.

It seems like an obvious forum for women to post their availability without paying BP. I don't know why it hasn't gotten traction. #denver #escort

(It goes without saying that one should have a hobby twitter account attached to their hobby email account.)

I look at tweeter quite a bit. Never realized how good a sense of humor some of the ladies have.

Facebook is so fucking invasive, I wouldn't go near it with any of my hobby related paraphernalia(or any of my other paraphernalia, for that matter).

I believe there was a quote a few years back when Twitter was getting going:

"Twitter your twat, Facebook your friends."

I agree with Fork though, Twitter should be an awesome medium for a local ASP market, I'm mystified why it hasn't caught on more.

"Facebook your Friends and Tweet Your Twat" is a phrase often used. Facebook is not so discreet - as it webs into real life for people...and not suggested for the Hobby.

Twitter is NOT generally used for finding clients (the gentlemen who are the successful movers and shakers in industry..are not spending their time trolling Twitter)...but is used as an extra "Get to Know Me" tool for many providers...

and with P411 getting rid of the Message Boards that were once used effectively for availability or visiting different cities- it has replaced that role for some ladies. (Not every provider is sitting on the computer or in an incall with "come get me now 'real time" type of business)

It also has been an effective networking tool for national providers to connect with other providers in other cities to gather info about market, restaurants to go to, things to do.

So...it is a useful tool...but not in the Direct Advertising sense.

That being said..it gives gentlemen a running timeline of posts that they can view and get a feel not only for a provider's personality...but in any potential personality clashes-drama etc. (just as a lady may evaluate a guy's reviews/board posts/online behavior to ensure a gentleman may be nice in person)

I have had great success with twitter. I don't have an inbox full of appointment requests but it has helped generate interest. From a provider perspective it's a great tool. The number of providers all over the world on twitter is awesome and being able to network is invaluable.

I don't actually use social media to advertise. I post pics and availability occasionally but it's more about having fun as "Lucy" and displaying her persona. I have noticed that those who use it as an advertising venue don't have as much luck as the ladies who post to have fun.

There are quite a few local ladies that use twitter. I think that some don't stick with it if they don't feel it's actually doing them any good. The number of overall providers on twitter is quite staggering but I am getting the feeling that more and more providers are using it to connect with each other and a general audience rather than specifically clients.

I know there are some people who are going to talk some shit about this but here goes!

I personally dont have a Facebook account, Twitter or any other account because it does not interest me to be that much in contact with people. I also dont want people to have that much information about me

Just my .02

+1 Mr Deer

An ATF (at the time) asked me to "friend" her on Facebook. So I created a bogus Facebook account and "friended" her. The new account had no common info with my other account (ie, different: email, birthday, friends, photos, etc.). The only thing in common was my computer. A little while later one account asked me if I'd like to "friend" the guy (ie, myself) in my other account. REALLY!!!

Tell me Big Brother hasn't gone toooooooo far. Who ever thought Big Brother would have such an innocent looking face like Mr Zuckerberg?

Never. Under no circumstances would I consider it.

I don't use social media in my private and I wouldn't use it here either. There is no such thing as privacy or security when when using computers in general but social media just exacerbates that.

I don't post, but I follow the daily ramblings of many providers on twitter as a subscriber, including Ms. Kitten, Ms. Holliday, and Ms. French, who all post here as well.

It is very entertaining at times, especially some of the photos that get tweeted.

OMFG what a great story!

I love the ending when the lady newscaster says: "I love the way Facebook lets me interact with my fans without having to see, hear, or smell them."

Although a small percentage of my facebook friends work in the adult video industry, and only two are escorts.I don't use facebook to conduct business. May I also say that it isn't a good idea at all to friend someone you know from the adult biz ,then send off messages to their friends asking if they escort. Had a lady I've known for years leave fb because her relatives and friends were being propositioned. So, I would say no to using facebook and a big yes to using the escort board.

I have met several touring ladies and a few when I travel to their locale because of Twitter. Many were on P411, but it's a nice tool to interact prior to meeting. Facebook (to me) is too sluggish for hobbying and invasive as others have said.

To the lovely OP, anytime you can brand yourself (especially for free), I don't really see a downside. Just keep it drama and BSC free!

I'm with Lucy on this...

I don't use FB but I do use Twitter. I tend to go through phases with it. I like being able to display more of who I really am in my personal life and mini petting zoo I tend to. But, it really is a great way to connect with other Ladies along with a few Male Dom's that I admire.

As far as meeting future clients: I can honestly say it's been a great bonus tool, but I would never rely on it. If I've advertised myself on there it's only after I've listed somewhere else. Trying to remember to *hashtag* tweets is a headache.

I remember when a Facebook was a scrapbook full of mementos and candid photographs, and tweeting was something only birds did. I also remember when cars had fins, radios had knobs, music came on vinyl discs, and movies were only seen in theaters. When men wore suits and ties on dates, ladies wore dresses and high heels, [snip}

Hey, you are soooooo 1990's.

Let's compare flip phones.

Does yours have an antenna that goes up (flip phone, that is).

And remember when having "safe sex" meant not making babies?
