  1. Social Media and The Hobby

Didn't you know Zuckerberg is a CIA agent? That's an oldie but a goodie
  2. Greetings fellow OtherBoarders! I have a question for all of you. Do you use social media (ie Twitter, FaceBook, whatever else the kids are using these days) to connect with providers? I've looked at a few provider Twitter feeds form around the US and I am not sure it is a good medium for connecting with clients. Do some of you have a hobby social media handle? If not, when you see a FB or Twitter link on a provider's site do you check it out? How effective is SM for a provider from a hobbyists view? Thanks for your time in answering my poll.
  3. Employer?

Thanks Nikki! I needed the laugh. I think with a little digging into what providers put on the net (i.e. social media, ads, message boards, ect) the guys have a pretty good idea as to who the "bat shit crazy" providers are.
  4. ProtonMail---secure email

I just received an invite for family and friends for instant access to ProtonMail and figured I'd share with this "family". It is only open until June 17th. https://protonmail.ch/privacyforall Since the technology is totally over 99.99% of people's head, here one of it's creators explains in simple terms (I included the Forbes article if you want to read the whole story): We encrypt the data on the browser before it comes to the server, he explains. By the time the data comes to the server it's already encrypted, so if someone comes to us and says we'd like to read the emails of this person, all we can say is we have the encrypted data but we're sorry we don't have the encryption key and we can't give you the encryption key. We've basically separated the message that's encrypted apart from the key all the encryption takes place on your computer instead of our servers, so there's no way for us to see the original message. Happy Monday folks!
  5. ProtonMail---secure email

I can't stress this enough...zero-knowledge protocol! Anyone can "roll over" but if the one rolling over doesn't have anything of substance(due to encryption keys) then it doesn't matter. The reason "The Man" can put pressure on companies like Google, FaceBook, Yahoo, ect is that they themselves mine data. ProtonMail doesn't. I urge all to read into it before making grumpy comments like 2Big.
  6. ProtonMail---secure email

Sadly it isn't that simple. I wish it was. The Diffie-Hellman key exchange is not as secure as we once thought.
  7. At the risk of sounding like I am wearing a tinfoil hat I figured I would share this with the community since I am not sure how many people know about it. Many of us are worried about prying eyes from SOs or LE or maybe even a No-Such-Agency sort of agency. There is a new-ish web based client-side encrypted email service that is zero-knowledge and seems to be the most secure product out there. It was developed by the folks at CERN (the same amazing people who found the Higgs boson) and was designed to correct current security flaws in how common webmails function. Also the servers are located in Switzerland which is out of the reach of the US and EU. They did a crowdfunding of some sort for more servers so you have to go on a mailing list but it is well worth the wait. I waited around two months. Just wanted to share with the community. If you like the service, please share it with others!!! Here's a link: https://protonmail.ch/invite Enjoy!
  8. You can use me as a reference anytime! Just shoot me an email and we can work out the details. Glad you're doing well.
  9. Places to Eat Downtown Denver???

I LOVE Chef Jen and second your vote, Endgame! Rioja, Bistro Vendome, Euclid Hall, and Stoic and Genuine are worth checking out. She is Denver's first James Beard winner. The OP is looking for something "downtown" so I would recommend all Jen's different incantations as well as 1515 which is Denver's only molecular gastronomy restaurant (science and food: my two loves combined!!!!!). Vespa Dipping Grill is very unique in concept for Denver and worth a visit. Kevin Taylor has a few spots that are amazing as well, mainly at the Opera House and Denver Art Museum. The OP is from Miami so SKIP Cuba Cuba; I lived in Miami for 9 years and CC's food is good Cuban food for Denver but wouldn't last a second in Miami IMO. For something more casual, Stueben's is great and very Denver-ey. Make reservations since it's RW until the beginning of next month. Enjoy your time in the Mile High and happy noshing!!!
  10. Location information disparity

I don't prefer outcalls with first time clients mainly because most stings occur during outcalls. With that being said, I always like to check the sex offender's list and see how much info I can find regarding home ownership via the address. Unless we have met prior, withholding of an address is totally not the norm and I decline all appointments that deviate from "the normal" booking process pattern.
  11. Is it tacky?

I view my site as an ad in and of its self so I figured it wouldn't be that offensive. Essentially it would be an ad containing ads. The nature of my site is to sell a service so I'm already in the "I wanna sell you something" boat.
  12. Is it tacky?

I agree that popups, videos, or anything that is annoying and detracts from the user experience is the last thing I want. I was thinking of sidebar ads. Nothing ostentatious other than my lascivious pictures. Some months I get 10-15,000 unique users from India alone! Sadly, that is one of the lowest paying countries for ad revenue but like Swildon01 said, if I can cover my yearly hosting fee that'd be great!
  13. Is it tacky?

The ads wouldn't bring traffic to my site; they would divert it by advertising on my site for another site/product. I've found a few adult advertising networks I'm looking into. Just like google ads, they figure out what are the best ads for my site.
  14. Is it tacky?

I recently got into google analytics for another project I'm working on and when I looked into the analytics on my own site I was floored with the amount of traffic I receive monthly. It got me thinking...why don't I have ads on my own site? Would this be considered tacky? Would it be a turn off for potential clients? Are there any other providers who do this? Thanks folks and happy Friday.
  15. Busted by LE

I totally understand wanting to know hard facts, stats, and data on stings but it seems more prudent to go to the source as opposed to whatever it is you're doing. There are federal agencies who break down dates, duration, locations, arrests, ect . Want to see why the police decide to contact who they do? Watch videos of LE doing stings. They use PR and our media to exacerbate aspects of this industry so there is a ton of docu/behind-the-scenes-type footage out there. You want to know how people are lured in? Read press releases where they say why they go after who they do BUT please stop what you are doing. It is not accomplishing anything remotely positive. Take the time spent playing Junior Detective and use a nice, private search engine for legitimate research. I will say it's not as exciting of a way to answer your questions but, between the two, it is the only one that will produce actual answers as opposed to inducing actual paranoia.
