ran into provider outside of hobby

24 posts in this topic

Don't post a lot here but was wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I have worked in the restaurant industry for years and hobby fairly regularly, and I have never ran into a provider I have seen before until the other day. I walked up to the table and introduced my self like I always do and then I noticed it was a provider I had seen before out with a friend. We both kind of looked at each other awkwardly but didn't let on that we knew each other. During, the just whole meal is was very weird and there was an un comfortablefeeling between us the whole time so much so I almost gave the table to another server but didn't. I think she thought I would say something but I would never do that. She was one of my ATFs but the situation was do weird don't know if I will see her again. Surprised this has happened before considering how long I have been in the service industry. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and how you handle it

Yep, I turned the corner in a grocery store and there I was 5 feet from my current ATF. We both saw each other and kept on without even acknowledging the others presence like we had never met. It's wasn't a big deal nor was it weird. I booked a session with her the next week.

Running into a provider at your work is different than running into one on the street. Don't see why it would be an issue to see her professionally unless it is because she knows your name and where you work but you should probably ask her before scheduling.

Absolutely have.

I smiled and said hi like I would have anybody. She made the first move to engage in conversation so all was good. If she had said hi and kept moving it would have been fine and no hard feelings.

Call the girl don't let it be weird.

What you need to remember is that we do have "a normal life" outside of the industry.

Just reading what you have said you might of been the one by your actions and body language to make her feel she might have to deal with drama.

I have seen gentlemen out that I've spent time with and not had it become uncomfortable for him or myself.

The choice not to see her is yours how ever look at the situation and how you reacted.

There is a reaction for every action good or bad ...

I thought I acted normal and treated the whole situation like it was just any other table, but it just seemed like she was upset or mad at me, she never really said much and didn't even look me in the eye when she ordered, it just felt weird even though I thoughti was being normal and friendly like I am with all the tables I get, or maybe I am just reading to much into it and over thinking things

i've run into a provider or two in the civilian world that i've seen and pretty much gave 'em a wink and a smile.

i could see how having the job to serve her (and them) dinner would be a whole 'nuther deal there if you picked up the negative waves. maybe it depends on how the session(s) went that you had with her. think back (or maybe you wrote a review)

Maybe she was upset, maybe she wasn't. You'll never know until you ask. Lacking in the social graces as I do, I'm always wondering if I've crossed a line. I've finally learned to just ask, rather than fret about it. If you'd like to see her again....ask if you did something wrong! As Doug28 said, don't let it get weird.

Yes I have, going to a function downtown Denver, walking along and noticed a very hot lady walking towards me. All I could think of was dam sexy lady coming. When I realized who it was we both stopped and said hi and gave each other a hug, of course we were both by ourselves at the time.

Had it happen a couple times. Usually if eye contact is made I'll say Hi like I do to anyone else and move on. Last year I saw a gal that I thought I had recognized from somewhere before (not from previous hobby related visits). Our eyes met and I could tell she recognized me. I walked up and asked if we had met before and then I realized where we had met! I asked a couple of questions like did you go to my university at the same time, do you go to this bar etc... acting like I'm still trying to figure it out. After a few questions said it must be a case of mistaken identity, excused myself and went on my own way. About 6 weeks later made an appointment to see her again. Gave us a little laugh and conversation to start the session. Doesn't have to be weird if you don't make it that way.

Doing some business for work a couple of weeks back I ran into a provider from our forum I had never met face to face. when she gave my credit card back and my receipt I said thank you and left. I never told her I bumped into her, privacy is paramount in my book.

This has happened to me a few times. Whatever you do, don't run after her yelling her "work" name. LOL

I'm sure you handled it just fine.

It happened to me last week in a professional setting on my ground. I instantly recognized her as I had seen her many times. I maintained my poise and spoke to her like any other person. It was clear that she felt awkward. I acted as if we were complete strangers meeting for the first time. My job was to make her feel at ease.

It just depends on where you meet in how you handle it.

I can understand where you are coming from, however don't over react to the situation.

I had a client come into my retail store with his wife and kids. He was a regular. He recognized me and I him and I acted like he was an average Joe off the street. His wife ended up spending $250 bucks in my store and became a regular shopper. When she went into the dressing room he approached me and said Thank you for being discreet.....my answer was well DUH! I could tell he was nervous at first, but I just took it in stride. We all have lives outside the bedroom where we meet.

Give the girl a call and say, It was nice seeing you the other day, I hope I did not make you uncomfortable.

Good lord, am I the only one who wonders if she tipped you well?

I too work in the food service industry, as an executive chef. I am confident that many men who I have seen over the years have seen me in my whites. Discretion is paramount no matter what, so I guess if you see me working come up to me and say hello and look down on my right breast and you will see the name I prefer you call me in a public setting. If you see me while I am out with family or friends, please avoid avoid avoid if you do not know my real name. Pretty standard I suppose.

Can't tell you if she was comfy or not comfy about it, but being honest about the run in with her and how it left you feeling might be a good start into getting an idea of how she feels too.

I have run into several of the ladies I had seen before and either a quick hi like she was anyone else or said nothing at all. Depended on if she was alone or not. Once when I was at the mall a lady I had several appts. with recognized me and we both were alone and it was obvious that we were. She came up to me and we just started talking like you would with any acquaintence. Ok with me but I would not do that to a lady that I had seen before unless she made the first move.

The guy she was with tipped and it was ok. The point of me posting this, which didn't come across right cuz I was drunk, but oh well. Just shocked I haven't ran into more providers in the past considering I have worked in the restaurant industry for so long, and yes I over thought the whole original encounter but hey it was a fun conversation, thanks for all that gave their two cents

Unless you were doing something weird, I doubt she was mad at you.

She might have been scared though. Scared that you were going to blurt something and be indiscreet.

I've been spotted "about town" a few times, and the gentlemen were...well...gentlemen. But I've heard some horror stories.

Maybe she had a horror story in the past.

I recently ran into a provider at a restaurant also. She has been retired for more than a couple of years now, but when she was active I remember that you guys really liked her a lot. I will not name her or tell you where I saw her, but as soon as I made eye contact with her I knew for sure that it was her. I don't know for sure if she recognized me or not, but I did not want to make it awkward for her so I did not approach her or look at her anymore during my meal. When we made eye contact she smiled at me. Maybe that was her just being friendly (as I remember she was a very friendly girl) or maybe she did recognize me. I was very surprised that she had chosen to wait tables instead of being an escort, but I must say I was proud of her for making an honest dollar.

As for the OP, maybe you are just reading too much into this. Maybe she didn't even recognize you. Just a thought.
