Last night, a door to door subscription salesman for the Denver Post knocked on my door. He said that the Denver Post was going to reduce the number of days that they were goigto print the paper to sundays only.he had such a great deal..for a buck a week,I could get home delivery.WTF..a dollar an issue for a newspaper that is not objective,has as many syndicated articles as it does local ? Ever count the ads in it these days ? They are obviously losing money. Looks like  Denver will be a big city without a newspaper soon. Figured that would happen when they laid off most of their staff and moved their offices to the place they print it.

It will be a shame if we lose the Denver Post and we are without a newspaper.  But then again, the Denver Post shot itself if the proverbial foot many years ago.

   Got an email today on my business account,saying I can get a subscription to the once a week Denver Post for $1.75 an issue. They are getting desperate . A photographer friend of mine sold the Post a news photo for $25 . That check bounced.

I thought the same thing, except I interpreted it as "No more DP in Denver", like somehow a new resolution passed the city council....and I wondered how that conversation went.

Considering the current owners take whatever small profit the Post made and put in back into their own hedge fund instead of the paper itself, it’s a wonder there is any semblance of a newspaper at all. They continually cut staff and pretty much all the photos are from stock files. Pretty much cut any credibility the Post had.

I remember back in the 70’s and 80’s when they had vendors in King Soopers with stacks of the Sunday edition on a table trying to implore you to buy a subscription. If you didn’t fall for the subscription, they’d gratefully sell just the Sunday edition itself.
