Posted September 13, 2019 So I’m in Portland today on biz and I managed to talk the car rental into giving me a better car than a Toyota Prius. I wound up with a Buick Enclave. Very nice vehicle and a little larger than my personal vehicle. Only problem with the Buick, there weren’t any 12 volt adapter that I could find to charge my phones. Everything was USB. Anybody else run into this?

The 12v port on most cars is rated for at least 10A where the USB might only be 0.5A output.

"The power outlets are located on the instrument panel below the climate controls, inside the center floor console, at the rear of the center console, and in the rear cargo area. Lift the cover to access the outlet and replace when not in use." I did check all those areas. Unless I’m blind, I couldn’t find them. I even got out of the car and was almost crawling around lookig for the outlets.

Posted September 14, 2019 I rent a car almost every week. About the only vehicle I can rely on to have a 110 outlet are Ford F-150. Most of the cars only have usb and some time a cigarette adaptor. I have come to carry everything to plug in anywhere. And yes the usb in cars is barely enough to keep up with what you are using on the phone. Just make sure you have as much charge as possible before you leave your hotel. Safe travels

When you are on the road, get in the rental car and have a 2 hour drive to get to your appt, you don’t really have time to stop and purchase USB cords. I travel extensively on biz and this was the first time I ran into this issue. Hell, even the Prius had the 12 volt outlet😂😂
