Escorts Murderer finally arrested today

18 posts in this topic

Many of you probably remember all the discussion here on TOB in 2007, about the Western Slope escort that was missing and found dean in Grand Junction. I won't list her name, but it's in the article. I followed this story for a long time, when it occured. Watching it on the noon news today, her murderer was finally arrested. Not suprised at what I was hearing, but the policeman who was interviewed admitted that the case was delayed due to her being an escort. This was repeated 3-4 times during the tv interview . Again, it didn't suprise me, but I was a little dissapointed when he clearly admitted it. A killer is a killer and should have been picked up sooner, especially since he also admitted that this guy was the only suspect for all these years. Here is the online story. I'm sure we will all hear more about this today on local news. I'm just glad her family is finally getting justice.

I understand your frustration at how long this took, but what I get from the LE statements was not that they did not care about solving because she was an escort, but rather that the nature of the escort business she was making frequent contact with unknown men and with both parties trying to conceal those meetings it makes investigation very difficult. A forty five page indictment would indicate to me someone in LE put a TON of effort into this investigation. Kudos to LE this time - and you don't often hear me say that.

Wow! Shows us how easy it is to be dead.

I am glad they nailed the stupid bastard.

This is a very sad situation. It seems history repeats itself -- quite frequently. This summer a young lady was found dead in a local motel. From a local TV channel: "The cause and manner of death are listed as undetermined" but "they consider suspicious". No news since and I don't expect there will be any. Life is cheap, especially if you die in a seedy motel.

We just lost another provider here in Toronto a few weeks ago. Working as a nanny during the day and seeing clients at night, sending money back home to her family in the Philippines. Some bastard posing as a client raped and murdered her, then set her room on fire.

While I normally don't like FUD posts, I think it's important for everyone to understand that there is a real danger in meeting with strangers in the way providers do. These women are just like you, and I.

Please stay safe out there, everyone. You would be missed.... :(

This was my understanding as well.

I have to agree with you. I'm tired of "others" saying LE doesn't care, blah, blah, blah, it's just NOT true. Maybe in someone's past there may have been a negative experience, yet, I believe times are changing. Call me optimistic or whatever.

Thank you to the Investigator/investigators for the hard work and let's hope all your hard work brings a conviction.

I'll chime in my voice to say that in my experience, LE most often DOES care about serious crimes, even if the victim was a provider.

While I've run into one or two in my days who were just asswipes out to destroy people's lives because they were on a power trip, the vast majority are simply "doing their job" and look forward to the days that they actually get to do some good in the world. Stopping a violent criminal would probably be high on that list.

Cautious optimism is always my motto.

I think at least half are on a power trip, but that leaves the other half with good motives, I suppose. I think cops rarely STOP a crime. They come in and clean up after it has happened. I guess finding the perp potentially stops a crime, so I applaud when they finally catch and charge a criminal.

That's the way our justice system is designed to work. We generally don't charge someone for thinking about doing something - thankfully. That was part of the problem with 9/11; the FBI knew the terrorist were up to something, but they hadn't done anything wrong - YET!

Stings are a mechanism for gathering evidence in a case of ongoing criminal activity.

Just recently I was watching some program on TV, and they mentioned a murder in another state. Spent about ten minutes explaining the guy (attacker) and then when it moved on to the victim, they spent a total of 30 seconds saying "she was a hooker that lived in blah blah blah" the end. I love how that is the ONLY thing she is now...

Proof that ideals aren't changing.

Just some of us are excepting the uniqueness of this job and some aren't. I can't talk for entire nation, but I can speak from the reports I've seen on tv, based off those if you are a hooker or ever was, your life is simply not valued the same.

Well, it sounds like they had focused on this guy for a bit, and waited until they had adequate evidence to ensure a conviction. I know this young lady had been featured on several evening investigation shows, so it was kept in the spotlight. Hopefully this will result in a conviction, and let this family have some kind of peace.

The title of this thread would suggest that the suspected killer has already been convicted of the accused crime. I wonder how many of the contributors in this thread would be willing to waive right to trial and move straight to sentencing should they too be accused of a crime?

That's actually a really good point.

While the title of the thread could read Escorts suspected murderer finally arrested, doesn't take away from the point. The police had only suspected this man. I think the fact that this lady was an escort slowed things down for the police detectives, they stayed the course and the fact that this man was still their main and only suspect is the point.

Innocent until proven guilty, sure but he gets to be innocent behind bars. Now then, what if he is convicted or what if he admits it. I do not think this guy is what we all refer to as a hobbyist. At that point everyone will be cheering for his conviction.

This is exactly why I feel it is important for the ladies to be able to screen in whatever manner they see fit. IF this victim had gotten his info and had a person that they checked in with, that may have sped up in either proving this man did or didn't do it. SO, by suggesting that the guys not give any info to the ladies, in my opinion puts the ladies at greater risk. Think about it, a girl from this board goes missing. They find out that she had seen "John" with no other info. The same thing is going to happen. The way I see it is that the ladies ask for information to feel safe. This is a perfect example.

Now look at it this way. You see a girl and she winds up missing. The police start looking at you as a suspect, BUT you are cleared because the person she checked in with said the provider called and checked in after the appointment. In this case, you might get questioned, and perhaps embarrassed, but you will not be charged with murder. Would you rather be questioned once or for seven years?

If you are in her database you will be questioned and possibly you work and family will be questioned. Not a good thing for most johns.
