has the board become less civil?

I’ve noticed a more hostile tone lately on the board or so it seemed. So I asked one of the ladies if she felt the regulars were being meaner of late. She emphatically said “yes”. I’ve noticed that for some they are no longer referring to the ladies as providers or ASP or even escorts. Some have taken to using the word hookers more and more. Now this may seem like no big deal. Some would say well that’s what they are why sugar coat it. Others may have the view of “a rose by any other name”. For me it seems like a rude term. If I call a doctor a quack or a lawyer an ambulance chaser people know what I’m talking about as far as the profession but it denotes a lack of respect or regard. When I think of a hooker I think of my youth when I would see ladies of the night walking the street and leaning over to my car asking if I wanted a date. It’s all about the act, of quickly getting off and moving to the next guy. I think of pimps, drug addiction and having no choice and I don’t feel clean. I’ve only felt this way with one lady I’ve met on this board and that was years ago. All the other have made the time about me. Most have treated me like a lover where we linger, chat and caress afterward. I may be naïve but I’ve always left with a smile and happy. I don’t think a “hooker “could make me feel that way. To me and it may just be me but the term hooker has a sleazy feel to it.

I’ve also noted more threads about trust or lack of it. Bat-shit crazy hookers and on the other side of the coin how most of the clients are not someone the ladies would even consider dating. Some of us you might consider having a cup of coffee with but that is all.

A lot of words to get to my question but what is the cause of the hostility? Are guys showing up smelly, unwashed and rude? Are providers treating you badly? Or in the end do you really have a low opinion of the people in this hobby on either side? Or is it just my imagination?

In my opinion, the board had not become less civil. It's always had an "us vs. them" mentality to it. It's always been "the guys board" who are refereed to as clients over tricks 9/10.

This board has it's ups and downs. Currently, there are two or three mean-spirited johns (at least they claim to be johns), who post derogatory, antagonistic remarks (mostly to women) on a daily basis.

They get on my nerves, but what can I do?

The board has always had it's ups and downs, all boards do. What makes a board more interesting is all the different characters that participate, and many of those characters will be rude and obnoxious.

My opinion is that if you care that much about what is being said on a message board, you are probably spending way to much time on it. Go out and spend some time in the real world, and learn to care way, way less about what is said here.

I've noticed lately there are a couple of people that say do your own research whenever a question is asked. But isn't asking questions on the board and reading forums part of doing research? If you can't be helpful and point somebody in the right direction maybe you should just keep to yourself. But that's just one man's opinion

Telling people to read reviews and research is pointing them in the right direction and avoids a million posts that will get us banned for shilling.

Contribute to the post that make sense or start threads when you have something of value to add. If the title doesn't intrigue you, don't post or better yet, don't open. Civil discussion can escalate to a pissing match very quickly. Just remember the reason you hobby...hopefully, it's too have fun!

You're not too sensitive! Shocker, Lucy totally agrees! It is true that the tone and level of activity ebbs and tides around here but it's no reason to not treat each other with a little civility. The more we ignore the negative the more likely it is to go away.

Today, some girls are so defensive and combative, you would think they had never advertised, asking me to call them. Even some that I've seen in the past and written reviews about, will treat you like a nubie, and I've been doing this for close to 20 years in Denver, from the Oyster days. Yes I have reviews posted. I've never stiffed a girl. I've asked some girls I've seen lately and they have heard nothing bad about me in their inner circles. Apparently the only way to maybe avoid this is to join something like P411 but since money is tight, I'd rather use that on the girls. The uncivil factor has definitely risen in recent years.

I can understand, to a point of course being a provider. Paranoia and busts were rife in 2013. I don't think there were that many more than other years but it hit closer to home and rose more towards the surface of the boards consciousness which it usually doesn't. As a result ladies tightened up screening policies and gents were a little more cautious too.

I bet you are not entirely alone in this either, a handful gents who have been doing this for a long time had built a reputation for themselves based on references are finding that their long time history isn't good enough any more. The inner circles you mentioned could have something to do with it. Not everyone is friends with everyone, jealousy is common sometimes getting a hold of another lady for a reference in a timely manner, if at all sometimes, is tough. Since no two ladies are really alike in their screening and reference checking the system is convoluted.

This I have to say is very sweet! You definitely will find ladies with good attitudes and who are more than willing to accept a good long standing history as positive screening info with that kind of thinking

I don't think you are too sensitive either and I agree with you - when I think of a "hooker" I envision the street walker with a hot pink plastic mini-skirt and 5 inch heels walking down Colfax. I don't particularly like being called a "hooker" but it doesn't have me losing any sleep. There are people who have tact and communicate with kindness and a certain level respect. And there are others who simply enjoy being disrespectful jerks and use this board and other internet forums to behave as such. No biggie - life goes on

I don't think it's gotten any worse but I also don't think everything is all right either. I notice the same crap on other boards and not just hobby boards. The problem is the anonymity of the Internet. People post things they would never have the balls to say in person. Unfortunately I don't think there is anything that can be done about it. We probably just need to get better at ignoring the shitty posts.

I can't imagine getting by without P411, there's no way I'd be able to remember who I fucked last month.

At the same time, I think it would be difficult for a provider to remember us either, even a month later or even longer, unless you're a regular. P411 is a great thing for everyone with shitty memory to keep track of who they fucked.

As many have said, this board like any other has its ups & downs. Perspective, a sense of "sticks & stones", helps keep one sane. Yes, there are folks here who matter to me; what they have to say has meaning. But the truth is that most don't; they cannot effect my daily life.
