The robots don't feel real yet, so they will sitll have to work out issues with the skin, movement and power supplies. They have to get that right before an ai could be constructed to make an effective robotic sex partner.

One thing to note, to make effective ai's they would need to find people who are experienced in dealing with a wide and varied range of partners to train the ai.

I understand your knee-jerk reaction against technology. This happens any time technology appears which threatens a labor-intensive task and challenges an existing value-stream. There’s a lot of money to be made in the ASP business.

Which is why there is such an unusually large effort going into the concept of the “sex robot.” The robotics skill level is there…..heck, they’re doing very delicate surgery with robotics. The exteriors are coming along real nice, too. Just look at one example:

All that is missing is the AI…..the response to the “client”…..and the customers will start rolling in.

Let’s take a look at Joe Client. He visits an ASP maybe 14 times a year, spending on average $300 a visit. That’s $4,200 per year. At that rate, he can spend $13,000 on a “sex robot”, and, depending upon the cost of money, get an annual rate of return well over 25% on his investment. And that’s only if he “hits” his new toy 14 times a year…..when in fact he can use it 365 days a year if he desires.

Up side for the client: less money spent. more “hits”. Zero exposure to STDs, robberies, pimps, NCNS’s, blackmailers, drama. And no laws are being broken.

Down side for the client: He doesn’t get to meet a real woman.

Now, ladies, please don’t get me wrong. I have met some providers that have wonderful personalities, and spending time with them as people is one of the reasons I enjoy this. I believe there will always be a market for a high quality real companion.

But, as the technology improves and the AI gets better, the line between “the robot” and the “ASP” is going to get fuzzier and fuzzier.

You've got a very good argument there. Forgive me, I think I may have given the impression I was speaking as a provider in my reaction to the realdolls/sex robots revelation but instead it was as a woman, mostly in backlash to comments I've seen on other places around the internet by MRA fuckwads who assert women will become extinct/unnecessary because all men would rather fuck robots in the future than pursue romantic relationships with human women.

As a provider, although it would indeed lose me some clients, I can most certainly understand the logic of investing in something like that in order to save money over time, if human interaction is not as important to you. I would be VERY interested to keep tabs on developments like this as they are released to the market and see if the various hypotheses turn out to be correct insofar as actually becoming a rival to the ASP market.
