Cash Advance on Sunday in Denver?

21 posts in this topic

My ATM/Debit card is fractured.  I can't think of any decent way to get cash other than a cash advance (I have one card where my status means I won't get charged).

But does anyone know where I could do it on a Sunday?  I'm trying to not cancel an appointment later tonight with a lady I'm quite fond of.  Plan B is to offer a Gift Card, but I'd rather not.  :(

Just about any ATM will do cash on a credit card as long as you have the PIN set up.

Sorry, forgot to add that I've never set it up.  Called the bank and the best they could do was mail one out.

Proper planning prevents piss poor performance.

Have you considered pawning something of value and buying it back on Monday?

I know there is a US Bank near I-70 and Quebec open until 4pm. Also, I think some of the banks in Walmart are open (call to check).  Good Luck!

Love the eyeroll, but yes I have, and nothing that your search returns does what I need.

I keep finding clues and claims that there are US Banks open, especially in King Soopers, but no answer at any I've tried.

Oh well.  Yes, piss poor planning.  Perhaps m'lady will show mercy.

I saw several that were listed as being open at the time that I posted the link.

You must be leaving something out of the equation if none of the cash advance operations in the Denver metro area are able to assist you with getting cash.   Their whole operation is to front cash to people in need.  Be it a check or credit card or installment program.

Multiple bank accounts at different bank i.e. Wells Fargo & Chase.

It has more advantages than in just this situation.

Probably too late to help you but you could also try buying a few small things at a grocery store or Target, and asking for additional cash that would be charged to the credit card.

That was one of the things I tried.  Nowhere would do it if I selected credit--in one place I thought it would work but wanted my pin.

All is well, though.  Thanks for the suggestions.

It's too late to help with you Sunday night date, but this should be a wake-up call for you (as well as everyone else).

As in most other things in life, I look to my guru and mentor, Charlie Harper.  His sage wisdom: always keep a few thousand dollars in cash in your "HOOKER BUCKS" envelope.  I can't afford to keep thousands, but never I let my (plain white unlabeled envelope) go below $500.  You just never know when you might need $300 in $50s.

Just sayin...

Thanks, Captain Obvious.  If you read his post, he was asking WHERE he could get one.

Just go to one of the pay advance places.  If you can take out the money in the next few days, or cash a check at the bank then you are fine.  Just don't make the mistake of waiting more than a week to get it paid off.  The interest is crazy on that crap.

Actually the reason I didn't hit a "payday loan" place, which is what was in the search someone posted, because I've heard and read so many horror stories of not being able to get the loan to go away no matter what.

I needed a cash advance on a credit card, not a payday loan.

In any case, you're all correct about a second account.  Since the divorce, I hadn't needed it.  ;)

I didn't manage to write what i was thinking: getting cash from an ATM machine with a credit card will usually come with a transaction fee or finance charge, and the original poster (OP) may be trying to avoid paying a fee for getting his cash.  I see that the OP also wrote "I have one card where my status means I won't get charged", but he can't use that card in an ATM right now because the PIN isn't set up.

Not trying to advertise for them, but you can get cash back on a Discover credit card with no fee and without providing a PIN, when you make a purchase at most grocery stores.

Finally, I believe the OP is right to avoid "payday loan" stores, because they are the worst for high fees and high interest rates.

Darn it all, honey, I left my cigarettes and my wallet at the bar...will you take an IOU?"
