58 years since Simon wrote it and damned if it isn't still a great song, no allowance for time span.  As many of his are.

Had “Central Park” on cassette in college. My daughter love “The Sound of Silence” also. Simon and Garfunkel you can’t miss! 😍😍

Everybody enjoys his songs, but very few know he wrote them.  One of the most covered artists around

ilovewomen:  you are certainly welcome.  I am a bit of a music freak, especially blues and blues tinted, and i always enjoy hearing someone else likes a tune i throw out there because i really like it.  Sometimes folks just go huh?  Ms. Daines is addictive.  While I am here, how about a bit more known, half of the duo anyway.  But which one wrote the tunes? - Don't look.

I do very much like Clapton and his a marvelous guitar player.  But both these songs were written by Cale, as were many others made famous by other performers.

https://www.thestar.com/entertainment/music/2013/07/27/jj_cale_who_wrote_claptons_after_midnight_cocaine_dies.html

short excerpt from the above (and it leaves some out):

Neil Young, Mark Knopfler, Bryan Ferry and Clapton all cited Cale as an influence, and critic Geoffrey Himes wrote in The Washington Post in 1983 that Cale’s “superb guitar leads — which other guitarists study faithfully — are so thoroughly woven into the fabric that one has to mentally unravel the songs to identify what miracles Cale is working.”

Other well-known performers who recorded his songs include Carlos Santana (“The Sensitive Kind”); Cissy Houston (“Cajun Moon”); Captain Beefheart and Bobby “Blue” Bland (“I Got the Same Old Blues”); Chet Atkins and Jerry Garcia (“After Midnight”); and Tom Petty (“I’d Like to Love You, Baby”).

And just a bit different.  Her sax speaks for itself.  And Ulco is one of the best guitarists anywhere.
