ED Treatment

12 posts in this topic

For those of you over the age of easy up and stay up the following may be helpful.  I am 79 and not dead yet.  However, I have diabetes and I don't get t up without help.  I went to my Doc and got a prescription for the little blue pill (actually he gave me some samples). They worked and then I got a prescription.  My pharmacy doesn't provide Viagra but instead sent me Levitra which worked fairly well.  Did see "blue" sometimes but all in all was satisfied for a while.  However, after a while it no longer worked.  I considered the "clinics" which advertise in the newspaper and on the TV, but they seemed expensive.  My Doc referred me to a Urologist (Medicare pays for  that visit).  (Note. In Denver the TUCC is great) He has a nurse who specializes in the treatment of ED.  She prescribed a shot - yes a shot in the ole non responsive little man.  The shot comes from a Compounding Pharmacy (she had a list). It uses a very fine needle which doesn't hurt just a small prick (no pun).  It worked great for about three yeas. It does require refrigeration, but is easy ti measure and use. I adjusted the dosage to larger and larger amounts until just didn't work well I still got up slightly but not as hard as I wanted. After the three years the dosage just didn't seem to get me there so back to the Urologist.  The nurse said OK you are on a three ingredient dose and we can add a fourth as a booster.  New prescription - cost went up slightly and back in business.  I see a regular provider weekly and am still satisfied.  The Doc says that sooner or later it just won't work and the only solution is a $12,000.00  implant which I can't afford.  As an experiment I went to a provider who specializes in men with ED. She was able to get me off without an erection with a BBBJ.  Not as satisfying as a good roll in the hay, but it worked so I guess its not over till its over.  Hopefully, this little tirade will give some of you guys with a problem getting it up (not just us older guys) a little hope.   Don't pay for the high priced places just give a regular Urologist a shot and fine a local Compounding Pharmacy (Wise Phamacy in Littleton is my go to guy.)

1) You're 79, upright, currently functional, getting off AND have the funds to do so. Likely, you still drive. Damn!

2) In my experience, there's very little good medical news after 50.  Just a lot of "not-yets."

3) On the other hand, six months ago,  got off what were a ton of beta-blockers for a mis-diagnosed condition and at 67, my prostate is apparently still alive and finally kicking after after several years of suppression (whoopee for me);

4) Growing old is not for wimps.

That's a great note of encouragement. I'm entering my 60's also and note that stamina and spontaneity are lagging more and more. Tried the pills but found that I got nasty sinus headaches.

However, nothing beats a warm kiss, a lingering kiss and the gentle hands of caring provider. My fav back in the midwest spends the extra time I need to enjoy the experience. And I find myself repaying the favor with extra caresses for her.

One tip. Check out the book "Slow Sex" by Nicole Daedone. It is devoted to giving your gal that extra long orgasm (Orgasmic Meditation). Unbelievably fantastic! Back in the appendix is a section on arousing the fellows. Works like a charm on me.

Pointymustache, Thanks for sharing your story with all of us. You're truly an inspiration. I can only hope to be sharing time and experiences with the YL's  when I'm nearly 80.

I know this is an old post, but I super feel the need to post for anyone who might still come across this amazing post. Props to the OP for his dedication to the craft and living the dream :) Also, unfortunately, ED is one of the FIRST signs of heart issues- even in the 40's and 50's. Instead of testing for heart issues, MDs prescribe ED meds because they are trained to do symptom reduction, not find the root of the issue. While heart issues aren't always the case, it's extremely wise to insist on heart related testing to rule out the possibility early on. If it's a physical issue, it's often a vascular problem causing blood flow issues to the extremities (which is also common in diabetes). I know this might not relate to the OP specifically, but I hope it sparks some thought and curiosity!

I also feel the need to reply to this post. First and foremost, PLEASE tell us you have ED before you visit. I am very patient and understanding IF YOU TELL ME BEFORE that you require a tad more patience and understanding. If you do not give me that information, I cannot give you the best I know how. We are not mind readers, guys. Give me the facts and I can make my own decisions.

I'm sure many of you have been eagerly awaiting an update on the status of my prostate recovery, after being mistakenly suppressed for a decade (referenced above).

Va-va-va-VOOM!
