Top 5 reasons men hire ASPs

17 posts in this topic

I have to roll my eyes at the "adjective inflation" that made someone put the word "Shocking" in the title. None of these reasons are shocking.

"Shocking" would be if most men wanted to get pegged by a midget Korean wearing a Hitler outfit and singing show tunes.

I was surprised since the guys I asked are all good-looking, successful in their chosen fields and have no problem getting dates. But they all agreed that to sleep with stunning women, the easiest way was simply to pay.

I would imagine that blurb is what set the tone for the authors article. If she asked a bunch of what she thought were average to not good looking men I bet it would not be so shocking.

Paying for sex has a stigma attached to it, that just isn't as valid as it may have been in the "old days".

It's been said that we are not paying for the sex, we are paying her to leave. That's not just a clever play on words, it's true for many guys.

It's just nice too be able to get some, without all the other attachments that civilian women try to impose.

I was gonna say that I'm sure more men would do it if they could afford it, but I guess I'm wrong. It sounds like it's more common among lower incomes!

From http://prostitution.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=004119:

"While earlier studies with methodological limitations have found 69% (Kinsey et al., 1948) to 80% (Benjamin and Masters, 1964) of American men to have engaged in commercial sex, more recent studies with representative sampling have found much lower - but still substantial - rates in the range of 15% to 20%...

While men who solicit prostitution are not atypical demographically or in terms of criminal history, they are unsurprisingly and measurably different in terms of a range of attitudes toward women, relationships, and commercial sex... [C]onsumers were less likely to be happily married than men in national samples, to have sexually liberal attitudes (e.g., to view premarital sex, sex among minors, and homosexuality as acceptable), and to think about sex more often. Commercial sex participants were also less likely to have been sexually molested as children, or to report having forced women into sexual acts. The differences between samples were not large, but were statistically significant."

Abt Associates Inc., "Final Report on the Evaluation of the First Offender Prostitution Program," Prepared for Karen Bachar, Office of Research and Evaluation, National Institute of Justice, March 7, 2008

"Contact [with prostitutes] is higher among those living in metropolitan areas, Blacks, those with lower incomes, veterans (probably when in military service), those who attend church less frequently, and those having gone through a divorce or are currently separated. Among married men paying for sex during the last 12 months is strongly related to low marital happiness."

In 1948 & 1964 a significant portion of the male population would have served in WW II. They likely engaged in commercial sex during training or overseas.

Add to that the decline of the commercial sex industry with the advent of 'free love' in the 1960s. Prior to that brothels & street workers were common in most urban areas. The (relative) clean-up of our own Colfax Ave is just one example of this. The sex industry was more accepted by society.

A third element would be the common availability of porn videos, first on VHS and then on the Internet. Yes, there were the 8mm loops, but they were elusive. I remember seeing perhaps 2 or 3 prior to turning 30.

The main reason is as old as the profession: a desire for sex, usually brought on by the lack of said activity in the home. Same old story.

+1 I think some will never answer honestly out of fear or possibly guilt.

The main reason is as old as the profession: a desire for sex, usually brought on by the lack of said activity in the home. Same old story.

I wrote a paper last month, for school, on Royal Mistresses in the European Monarchies. My inspiration for the paper was from the book: Sex With Kings: 500 Years of Adultery, Power, Rivalry, and Revenge by Eleanor Herman

It's a historical account on the working dynamics of the Mistresses to include the relationships (or lack their of) with the Queen(s); along with many other topics.

The book is fascinating and somewhat eye opening when you get into some of the Monarchs who had Mistresses for the sole purpose of "show" but never engaged in any sexual relations with them.

This profession has a bad rep but will never die out. I think its a shame that Men (and Women) are made to feel guilty about wanting *pleasure*. It's human nature. We have these various parts on our bodies for a reason.

Get Naked and Use Them!!!

That picture reminds me of a cab ride in DC. My wife & I had been to this blues club. The ride back to the hotel passed through the most blatant street walkers I've ever seen. The gals standing out in the middle of the street, actively propositioning cars as the crossed the intersection. About one gal dressed in a bustier & hose (and not much else) my wife remarked, "At least you know what she's selling."

Honestly the reasons vary for everyone as someone who works 60 plus hours a week recently divorced and done playing games it's not only more time efficient for me but it costs less both financially and emotionally and fits my life style perfectly
