What do you think is the best and/or most realistic movie portrayal of the ASP world? What is the most inaccurate and/or most unrealistic? Just curious.

i will always have a place in my adolescent heart for (hanoi) jane fonda as bree deniel in 'klute' especially that slinky long-sleeved sequin backless dress.

I've always wondered what the provider community thought of Charlize Theron's role in "Monster." Not saying it is accurate....but I'm curious......

There are a couple of documentaries about Aileen Wuornos, the woman Charlize portrayed. I thought she did a very credible job.

However, Aileen Wuornos, was certainly not an "average" prostitute.

I liked Klute a lot. It felt real. I thought the "Diary of a Manhattan Call Girl" was as fake as a $3 bill. :)

Jane Fonda NEVER wore a bra in that movie. She had that one client who she never had sex with. It was the older guy who just wanted to see her strut around naked and talk to him. I discovered from this board that "no sex" sessions are more common than I thought.

I liked Working Girls from 1986. Not particularly erotic, but fairly honest.

Slightly off-topic but The Oldest Profession is a mad funny movie about the profession.

On the other end of the spectrum is Whores' Glory, a documentary about the profession, outside the States.

+1 on Working Girls.

;)

These were the most realistic films to me, keeping in mind that most of my time as a provider was spent pre-internet (1984-1999). These are both excellent portrayals of how it was for a working girl (like me) in the 80's and 90's.

Whore (1991) starring Theresa Russell.

Leaving Las Vegas (1995) starring Elizabeth Shue and Nicolas Cage

Alabama Whitman/Worley from True Romance is my favorite portrayal. I don't know really about it's accuracy but her role really worked for me.

That movie was basically a remake of "My Fair Lady " ,which was a remake of " Pygmalion." They just changed the setting from London to Hollywood and the profession from flower girl to streetwalker.

Ah yes...the unforgettable scene of her bending over the kitchen table.

Thankfully we can still enjoy watching this pretty and talented woman on CSI. :D

While not very realistic, my favorite movie "escort" is Rebecca de Mornay from Risky Business. She was hot.

Most realistic was the movie of the autobiography of Xaviera Hollander, in "The Happy Hooker".

Most unrealistic, was "Pretty Woman" whether or not it was a knock-off of My Fair Lady or Pygmalion or whatever else is out there..........;)

Which movie about "The Happy Hooker " ? There were several. R rated ones . The first 1975 one starred Lynn Redgrave, the other starred Artistae Stufung. Joey Heathertyon played the title role in 1977 and Martine Beswick in 1980.

I have a copy of the "hard core " porno "The Life and Times of Xavier Hollander" starring Samantha McLaren...but its rather poorly shot, edited ,wriiten and acted.John Homes is in it .

..and yes, I agree about "Pretty Woman" :)

You just made my brain pull a muscle....:D

I was talking mostly about the first one with Lynn Redgrave which Ms. Hollander consulted on and was interviewed for following its release. It was a bit "white-washed" but in the day, that was the deal. The daily ritual and spirit of her life was what she said was the intended message, which I see as very important.

The closest I have found that seems to relate to my life "escort-wise" was "Secret Diary Of A Call Girl". I swear there is always something new daily, and my life can be just as crazy and quirky too. The others to me feel totally glamorized. There is nothing glamorous about working to provide a fantasy. It is fun though to figure out what makes a client "tick"! ;)

Really ??..hmm.. although she was a fine actress, thought the late Lynn Redgrave just didn't have the sex appeal to pull off the role of Xaviera. Maybe I simply had the (still fresh ) image of her as "Georgy Girl" in my mind as I watched it. Joey Heatherton was easily the most sexy of the actresses that played Ms Hollander...but she was in the worst scripted of the bunch.

Just an FYI...there's a remake in the pre-production stage. Their casting problem ? Finding a cute blonde, without tats, willing to do nudity and soft core sex that can act.

Maybe they'll get a film portrayal of escorting right. (for that time period )

here's a different choice - 'l.a. confidential'

gotta love kim basinger as the veronica lake look-alike high priced call girl and russell crowe as her tough-love interest.

I was surprised too!

I remembered another one that really hit home for me when I listen to ladies talk about their experiences. "How Do You Love Me?" It is French, and has stars like Gerard DePardieu, and Monica Bellucci in it. Very powerful!

I thought "The Girlfriend Experience" starring Sasha Grey was pretty realistic.

This by far is the best movie about escorting. A cop falls in love with a prostitute and takes up extra jobs and creates a persona to be her one and only high paying client. All the while she makes him her pimp. He decides that it's time for that persona to die, so he makes up the elaborate ruse to kill off the high paying client and ends up in jail for doing it, and she supports him in jail and then he breaks out.

It really is a cute movie, takes place in Paris, and shows a very realistic side to all of this even though it was shot in 1963.

I've always liked the 1962 black and white film, "Walk on the Wild Side" with Lawrence Harvey, Capucine, Jane Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck. It's a rather dark and somewhat noir-ish story of a high class hooker at the Doll House in 1930's New Orleans. And I love the music and the shots of the black cat on the prowl behind the opening credits of the film.

The ending is a downer, but I still watch the film every few years. It was on TMC again today.
