Posted May 24, 2014 My dad who died twenty-one years ago on December 20, and who nearly lost his life on December 7, 1943 in the drive from Salerno to Monte Casino (the wound happened about a month before the "official" assault began). Posted May 25, 2014 THANK YOU HOLLY. As a veteran myself and the son and grandson of veterans and a father of an active duty son thank your for remembering. This is a special day for me as I have lost a grandfather and several very very close friends in the line of duty. We do owe a debt of gratitude to those who have served and are now serving. Posted May 25, 2014 Lets not forget the families of those who served. They also did and still do make a sacrifice. In my case my mom who raised me for the first three years of my life, worked in the defense industry and helped care for my fathers Dad while he was serving in Europe. 0 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Posted May 26, 2014 I totally agree the family is the backbone. If you can, try to attend a memorial day service for all of those who have served and their families who also sacrifice.
