Posted July 7, 2012 Not to be a dick(too much anyway), but "amok" is actually the more correct spelling referring to the Malyasian term and also referenced in the DSMIV. Although, the original meaning seems to have some merit here: "A killing spree perpetrated by an individual out of rage or resentment over perceived mistreatment."
Posted July 7, 2012 So is runamuck still available? I better snatch that up.

Although, the original meaning seems to have some merit here: "A killing spree perpetrated by an individual out of rage or resentment over perceived mistreatment." Since you gave your definition I'll give you mine: The phrase is often used in a less serious manner in relation to someone or something that is out of control and causing trouble (e.g., a dog tearing up the living room furniture might be said to be running amok). Such usage does not imply murderous actions, and any emotional implications (e.g., rage, fear, excitement) must be gleaned from context I changed the spelling to imply a noun (person) instead of a verb (action). Keep in mind this was still in the 90's when I got my first computer.
Posted July 7, 2012 I know that years ago,whe TO was around, he was really on top of this sort of thing. He never allowed 2 people to have names too similar, never allowed 2 screen names , and never allowed names of famous people. Maybe if you ask Gina, she can do something about this...Sounds like a possible troll to me.
Posted July 7, 2012 Well if there was one, he doesn't show up in the user list today...
Posted July 7, 2012 Well if there was one, he doesn't show up in the user list today... A user with no posts does not show up in the user list. However, if you try to send a PM then they will both show up. As it stands right now, this user has not done anything other than take a name close to another user.

Posted July 8, 2012 I got a pm pointing out to me that someone has registered a name one letter different than mine. WTF!? please be aware there are now a runamock-me & a "runamok" Really? apparently we've run out of names & must resort to alternate spelling. This could happen to you too... I submit that the new user's "name theft" may not be intentional, and that your spelling, "amock", is almost certainly wrong. From what I've found, the two common spellings are "amok" and "amuck". Heck, type amuck into Google, and it brings up the search results like normal. Same with amok. Type amock into Google, it automatically corrects the spelling to amok. A web search shows plenty of examples of both amok and amuck. There’s a blog with the title “Running Amuck,” and a 5K race called the “RunAmuck Mud Run.” Here are some other examples: People who permit their children to run amuck in places of business should be locked in a cage with an angry gorilla. HOAs are a good idea run amok As a caregiver, plaintiff has allowed the children to run amok in neighborhoods where they lived. So which is the “correct” spelling? Writing in the first half of the last century, H. W. Fowler preferred amuck. He classed the spelling amok, along with sati and Khalif for the more familiar spellings suttee and Caliph, as a “didacticism.” Dictionary devotees whose devotion extends to the etymologies think it bad for the rest of us to be connecting amuck with muck, & come to our rescue with amok. On the eve of the year 2010, however, the spelling amok seems to have won. A web search gives amuck 694,000 hits; amok garners 4,350,000. http://www.dailywritingtips.com/running-amok-or-running-amuck/ Misspell your screen name, and you can't be too angry when someone else comes along and spells it right. As Ashton Kutcher would say: Burn! LOL There might even come along a Transformers fan to take the third spelling: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runamuck

Possibly potential hackers. Time to fumigate under the bridges, IMO. I am aware of a few deliberate screen name spoofs which were intended to fool people, and it kind of made me go, "Hmm."

Posted July 12, 2012 That stinks. Reminds me of the fake PM's from "Mace." that a bunch of girls received a couple of months ago. The troll copied everything from Mace's profile - just added a "." at the end of the name. At least you aren't an ASP that has someone using your name

Posted July 12, 2012 Trolls won't be tolerated, let me know if it becomes something more than a similar handle. PS: There was a GinaXOXO (in LV) before there was a GinaXXX.... I had no idea, and people confused our handles for years. Fortunately, she was a good sport about it and we just dealt with it.
