Kitty's East shut down.

6 posts in this topic

Maybe it was indeed a landmark but I can't say that I am really sad to see it go. If I understand correctly Kitty's East was still paying for the defunct Kitty's South and both buildings are now up for grabs. Rumor has it that the 2Up is looking to expand and has their eye on Kitty's.

Kitty's East ? on West Colfax. Ohhhh..the memories. When the theatre was part of that building, I used to go see "Deep Throat " there almost every other day around 73/74. At the time I worked in a very upscale resturaunt that had very very hot waitresses on the lunch shift. each and every one of them was very curious about the movie ,but didn't want to go alone or with their boyfriend (or husband ) . So being a big guy and deemed "safe," they decided I would be their perfect escort. The poor old clerk at the ticket counter must have thought I was the biggest stud in town... lol. :)

btw..the article is wrong...Pleasures isn't next door. There is a bar on either side of Kittys. Both of which were seedy strip clubs in the early 70's.

Actually it was on East Colfax (Thus Kitty's East?). And Yes I went there a few times in the mid 70's before VCR's and things. Dangerous vibe there always though. The worst were the Arcades where the aggressive Gays would make holes in the walls of the booths so they could watch other men. There were some booths that actually had holes large enough for them to give blow jobs but if you saw those holes you could avoid those booths. Thank goodness for VCR's then DVD's and of course now the intrnet. We've come a long ways since those days.

Oh, Kitty's Spent way too much time and too much money in both places. (East and South). My favorite was the live arcades. The girls were behind glass, but usually put on a great show. I fell in love with a couple of them. Or at least fell into lust with them. Hey when your 18 or 19 years old, behind glass was not bad.
