Thoughts?????

8 posts in this topic

So I came across this article and was wondering what everybody's thoughts are?

http://www.examiner.com/article/ex-madam-says-happy-hookers-don-t-exist

My first thought is that with all the grammatical errors it was quite hard to read. I lost interest quite quickly after that.

This is a woman who wants to start a cause based on personal experience not on statistics or what the reality is just her reality. Most of these articles are about "high class" escorts, which I am not really sure what exactly is meant by that. There seems to be to some only two variations either high class or street walker. I think here in Denver we fall quite nicely in the middle, not exactly the high class image the articles conjure but definitely not street walkers.

I can most comfortably say that I am a happy hooker. I have been incredibly fortunate in escaping misfortune. I certainly have had moments where I have been less than happy but on the whole I am quite happy and healthy. I have a good relationship, my mental health is great, I have never been assaulted or abused. I really have a lot to be thankful for.

I usually enjoy articles about escorts but most of them are clear that it is just their perspective and they like to share their experience and wisdom. I don't like articles like this that seem to deny others a different experience.

Agreed. Makes me wonder if the copy editor was on vacation and if they were under a publishing deadline.

More interesting than the article itself, however, are some of the statistics cited--by independent studies--at the madam's website in Canada.

To wit:

o Utah is the online porn capital of the U.S. (And Utah acknowledges it!)

o Over 1/3 of all internet downloads are porn

o 1/4 of all search-engine requests are porn related

o 1/3 of all porn viewers are women (TOB providers might inflate that stat)

"They are addicted to money and lifestyle. They become feeling worthless and incapable of doing anything else".

Interesting article......

I guess I would agree with some of this. I can very much see ladies being addicted to the money and lifestyle, I mean who wouldn't be (two of my favorite things in the world :)). The second part I might argue, as many gents in this hobby put working ladies on a f*cking pedestal, (almost worshiping them), for the god-like creatures they are (I know none of these people ) and I would think ladies might feel they could conquer the world, after a day in this life.....IMO.

Really? Really? Worthless? More like Priceless.

Clearly, this woman is a deadbeat. Just look at her face. It looks like she got run over by a pickup and beaten within an inch of her life by a yahoo with no teeth who lives in a trailer in West Virginia.

The thing to do is to stay away from these psychos and find yourself a working girl who does it for fun, money, or because she's a freak.

You cultivate a relationship, and next thing you know, she'll let you fuck her in the azz and dirty sanchez her six ways to Sunday.

Madams tend to attract dysfunctional working girls.

hmm and here i thought the urban dictionary defined 'deadbeat' as a divorced yet employed father who still doesn't pay child support - which in some cases leads women into the profession.

as to the article, i'm sure that was her experience with women in the urban jungle there, so it is her truth. but it's really pejorative to paint all the painted ladies with the same broad brush stokes. i've known miserable providers and i've known happy hookers. i tend to frequent the happy ones.

2b, you gotta check that runaway imagination of yours man. really, you got all that virginia trailer park thing just from glancing at her face? my impression of her was she looked like a high-end call girl, no more and no less.

I think it is sad that she has these thoughts. We are all in charge of our own happiness, if this job makes one unhappy it is up to them to change it. It is just not alluring to me because of "money" or "lifestyle". It affords other things as well such as; a flexible schedule, having intimacy without a relationship, great conversation etc. I have often said that I do worry about the women that enter at a young age, and have difficulty getting out. Does that mean they will have regrets and be unhappy. I don't know.... it's not really my business. This is definitely not for every woman. I can honestly say that I am happy with my job. And it's not because I think I am unworthy or can not do anything else. Quite honestly to be successful in this a woman is a good project manager, a good coach, has to be great at marketing, provide customer service, sometimes be a good investigator, have great PC skills, etc. I consider myself to be quite marketable. Hell.... I could probably qualify to be a counselor when I am finished with this career. Being an analytical person, I would like to know where she got her statistics. I am happy with my job, I am happy with my clients. I get a lot of my needs met as well.:)

Pretty simple. The publication is her stated experiences. No more, no less. As Luce said, certainly no statistics anyone can verify or rely upon. Just another person's "exit story" to either promote a cause, and/or make money. That's it.
