Jihad on P411?

15 posts in this topic

Just wondering about the DoS attack on P411. What was/is the motive? I don't know enough about this sort of thing to say for sure, but it does not sound like unintended consequences. This kind of cyber attack is specific and targeted. That means some entity with resources and capability is behind it, right?

Lots of news stories lately about Iran running a covert cyber-war against western computer networks. Have the mullahs declared a jihad on paid nookie?

And on a less conspiratorial note...is it working? Ladies...have you noticed a drop in the action the last couple of days?

You should get in touch with Alanna Spice as she may have some leads regarding the involvement Illuminati and the cyber attack...

It's actually the PLA Cyber Attack Corps from China.

What's in it for them? Is there a financial motive? Or is it just to demonstrate a capability to fuck stuff up?

According to the notice I got from 411, the attack came from China. Actually, the major portion of hacker attacks are from China. PLA has a special corps dedicated to cyber attacks. You know what they say "if the shoe fits".

It could just be training purposes. Hackers need practice, right?

what better way to hit us where it hurts eh?

and after all, chances are slim that a horde of horny hobbyists is going to run to the authorities to complain of identity theft or hacking on an escort verification site that has been compromised?

Any serious DoS anymore will be a DDoS and will not be sourced from a single location/region.

If the attack was easily sourced back to China it was either someone playing around / experimenting, or someone was actually sharp enough to point the evidence to somewhere else.

A DoS can be performed with total anonymity fairly easily. There are just way too many bots/ zombie networks out there - and available to rent fairly cheaply. Even without the bots, it's not hard to perform a totally anonymous DoS attack.

The attacks that can actually be traced are the real hacking attempts (break ins) as in those cases traffic/data has to make it's way back to the attacker in some way. That's not true with a DoS attack.

You are correct, and DDoS was the case for us.

The reason "China" was named because I got some strange emails with Chinese characters in them, in the hour immediately preceding the attack. I also had just (two hours prior) removed a "provider" from p411 who was using a Chinese supermodel's pics, and her email was one of the emails I received with the Chinese characters. So really, I'm just guessing China... but in my mind it seems to coincidental to not have a connection. I am NOT a techie though, and quite honestly I knew nothing about any of this prior to Monday.

But indeed, the attack itself was indeed massive, and world-wide machines were used.

The good news is that we now have solutions in place that can quickly manage a similar DDoS attack, should it happen again. This was a lesson hard learned. :(

Always,

Gina

I kinda hope there's this petulant Chinese hooker out there who just happens to be a secret cyber-warrior Kung Fu computer witch who was really fond of those pics. That would make a hell of a story.

Seriously... Gina. Having your business fucked with is no laughing matter. Sorry for your trouble and glad you got through it. Good luck.

Hm, interesting. Emails with Chinese characters, you say. I got one couple days ago from a trusted source on my company computer network that is supposed to be ultra-secure. It somehow got past the security firewalls, the spam and junk filters. I deleted it without thinking. Maybe they were hit as well.

I doubt it was from Iran, they are Persians, not muslims. Jihad is part of Islam.

You're confusing ethnicity with religion. They're Persians, not Arabs. But they most certainly are Muslims.
