Fake BP Posts

6 posts in this topic

I did a quick search on the forum and did not see any recent thread about this, so here goes.

I think it would be helpful for us to have a discussion on why people post fake advertisements on BP escort listing. I am not talking about the ones were the pictures are not of the person you end up seeing. Bait and switch I get.

I am talking about the ones that are too good to be true, usually with an out of town number. For instance, this one:

http://denver.backpage.com/FemaleEscorts/visiting-b-r-a-n-d-n-e-w-e-x-o-t-i-c-s-w-e-e-t-visiting-24/15264469

Google the telephone number and it is clear that number has been listed in other ads for some a while and it isn't that same girl. Why do that? Is there something to be gained if I call the number and they get my phone number?

So, let's see what you folks think, if this is a worthy topic or not. If you think so, please reply.

There seem to be several reasons, from what I've gathered in the past:

1) LE, setting up a sting

2) Scammers, trying to get enough personal info on you to steal your identity. Or sometimes, to get you to make an advance payment.

3) Vengeful ex-boyfriends, setting up the former GF to get a lot of unwanted attention.

I'm sure there are others. Personally, I think the scamming is the most common reason.

Ummm... think you answered your own questions. TGTBT IS bait and switch.

Oh and: guy with a hard-on ain't thinking, hence, pimps and agencies do this and get away with it, since the dumb guy probably ain't walking when reality sinks in.

Your question is the best ad to stay away from BP IMO. That being said I have seen a couple of ladies on BP butmonly after seeing multiple good reviews? For the most part the ladies on EB and 411 are great and I do not see much need to venture anywhere else unless like I said earlier I see some reviews (multiple for BP) and they catch my eye and litle head's fancy.

Simple to me -- it's a trap. Irony being it is where I started too many moons ago. Not saying all but odds not good.

Yes to the above post - we can assume that "use stolen pictures of an incredibly hot girl" is an effective (revenue increasing) strategy for escort ads. That's why it's often done.

By the way, the phone number being talked about here is 702-493-6642, and here are couple of links that show previous ads with this number
