  2. Lots of great suggestions everyone.  Plenty to catch up on during the cold winter months.

I’m currently watching Snowfall on Hulu...a really good FX series about the beginning of the crack cocaine epidemic in south central LA and the role the CIA and the Nicaraguan Contras played.  Well done, but sometimes hard to watch. There are no “good guys” here but you find yourself sympathizing with different characters...WTF.

Disclosure: This post has nothing to do with the hobby, boobs, dicks, etc. I wanted to get that apology out in the open immediately.

Occasionally, peoples military service comes up on this board. Some members (me included) thank those for their service. Here's a chance to really thank them.

Honor Flights are all expense paid trips to Washington DC for military veterans to visit the national memorials dedicated to them.  Chaperones are provided for those who need physical assistance.

If you know a veteran, please encourage them to apply. And for all of you veterans that think you don't deserve such a trip .... you're wrong! When I came back from Vietnam, I did not receive any thank yous. I sat at an airport for 22 hours trying to get on a flight as a standby. I kept getting bumped. I wound up sitting on a greyhound bus for 73 hours to get home. I couldn't get out of my uniform and into civvies fast enough. After I was discharged, I burned my uniforms. I never wanted to wear them again. My story is no different than tens of thousands of other 18 -21 year old young men.

Two years ago I was offered the opportunity to go on an Honor Flight. I had very mixed emotions. But I wanted to visit the Vietnam Memorial because I knew several men who's names are on it. It was an emotional, but cathartic, trip. I will always be grateful to everyone involved in making it possible. Now I want to try to help make other veterans trips possible.

The High Plains Honor Flight just made it's first flight. Other regions of the country also have honor flights. Every one of these flights are done solely by donations. If you truly want to thank our veterans, please donate. You can donate to specific Honor Flights or to the Honor Flight Network.

And now, back to your regular programming ..........

First and foremost SixtiesDude, thank you for your service.

I was just a kid at the end of the Vietnam war but I had a neighbor who’s name is on the wall.  I grew up near DC and over the years have visited all of the memorials dedicated to the countless number of service men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.  I’ve attended the Memorial Day service at Arlington National Cemetery several times and can’t help but crying every time.  For anyone who has never been there, go.  It will teach you a thing about honor and service.

About ten years ago, I found my neighbors name on the Vietnam Memorial wall.  Seeing his name was powerful and seeing all the offerings that people leave at the wall in memory of family and friends is sobering.  There is a museum set up displaying all the items that have been left over the years...again, if you  haven’t been there, go.

Vietnam was a politically unpopular war, but the men and women who served and those who gave their lives deserve our honor and our thanks.

    Great post, my friend.

That's going to turn out to be me, too!  :(  I haven't seen anyone here, so I'm not verified, and I don't think anyone I have seen is on here. I'm also kind of chicken. Super self-conscious about my age and weight, etc. This world can be kind of intimidating! lol  But the people here seem so cool. I love the boards even if I haven't met anyone in person yet.

Nothing to be afraid of here my friend.  Unless you're underage or 110, I don't think you need to worry on tob.  There are some amazing ladies here who are very welcoming to anyone who is a respectful gentleman.  Hell, I think even the 110 year old would do okay.

If you're worried about your weight, check out the "Big Guys need love too" forum https://theotherboard.com/forum/index.php?/topic/44221-big-guys-need-love-too/ .   Some of the responses there may give you an idea of where to start looking.

Toss your fears aside and dive in.  The water's fine!

Ecstasy - yes, if you are a lefty that has been longing for an almost identical chicken sandwich but just can't go to Chic-fil-A cause of the boycott.  Goes beyond just marketing.

Hate to say it, but if there's a boycott going on, it's not a very effective one.  Chick-fil-A was just ranked the number one fast food restaurant in America.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/allthemoms/2019/06/27/chick-fil-a-ranked-top-fast-food-chain-fourth-year/1582613001/

I understand that some people refuse to go to Chick-fil-A because of their politics, but that aside, they do make a good chicken sandwich and the customer service is far above many others.  And last time I checked, we still have the freedom to choose which groups and political platforms we support in this country.   May not agree with them, but I will always respect their rights to choose.

Even though I'm not saying I agree with Chick-fil-A, I expect some backlash for this post.   That's okay, it's your right and I respect that too.

If you don’t provide references you can’t ask other ladies for references. That’s just unprofessional and dumb.

It takes 2 minutes out of your day to help keep the community safe. You honestly have a lot of nerve as well as bad karma coming your way. Do better.

Agree 100%.  Early on I saw someone who told me she does not provide references when I asked.  I found that really odd because everyone else has always been so willing.  Makes sense on so many levels to me.  Keep doing what you do ladies!

Does anyone know where to go for a short 2-3hr day hike /climb that’s not too complicated for a beginner in the Denver area?

Welcome to our outdoor playground.  No shortage of trails and rocks to climb. The list from Bad Boy is excellent, done most of them myself.

if you’re looking to try some rock climbing, check these out.  The Flatirons in Boulder is a good entry level climb. No ropes or gear needed on a some of it.

Hello what is the list of providers that will do BBFS.  Yes I already know all the risk it’s just something I like doing .

I’ll narrow your search for you.  I think you can cross every lady who responded to your question off your list...and probably 99% of everyone else.

If a poison expires, is it more poisonous or no longer poisonous?

It depends on the expiration date of the consumer.

If you get "scared half to death" twice, do you die?

Not if it's the same half both times.

Do twins ever realize that one of them was unplanned?

Yes...all the time, but the both know it was "the other one".

Which letter is silent in the word "scent", the S or the C?

That answer will cost you a penny. When I am sent a cent I will answer about scent.

Why did Kamikaze suicide pilots wear helmets?

Because they were extra soft in the head.

At a movie theater which arm rest is yours?

    Both....otherwise, you get severe flatulence.

As for GOT...no spoilers from me...except that based on overwhelming public opinion of the ending, I'm damned glad I never watched it.

Perhaps I had too much free time.

    Well played sir! 😂

Welcome back to the forums TheFinerThings. Seeing you post again has brightened my day.  So happy to hear you're happy, healthy, and back to being your adventurous self from your younger years. I missed you and your posts.

Please no spolers for GOT! I'm only on season 7 episode 3. 🙏😁

Hi, Hunter.  Good to see your smiling face, if only on your profile picture.  I promise, not another word about GOT.

  13. Hi gang!  It's been a long time since I've posted here.  Have to admit that during my recovery, I often lurked to keep up on the juicy gossip of TOB.  I also appreciate the well wishes I received from several of you fine people.

I'm back to my old self or perhaps I should say, my new self.  After my little health scare, I decided to take up a healthier lifestyle....started eating better and picked up running and mountain biking again.  Other than some strained muscles (yeah, I actually found a few) from running and a few bumps and bruises from mishaps on the bike trails, I'm better for it.

I thought I had decided that I was not going to come back to play again, because my priorities have shifted to things that I consider more important in the grand scheme...but then I'll get a message from a lovely lady from TOB and one of my heads tells me I should reconsider.  Oh, what to do?

Anyway, during my downtime, I had lots of time to ponder the meaning of life and other random thoughts.  This is the best I could do...

Oh, and what the hell was with that ending on Game of Thrones?  Am I the only one who was disappointed?

Wow!  Ladies and gents, I’m touched at the response and support you’ve all given me.

I feel that I should share a bit of the story.  In the scheme of things, this could have been a lot worse, but by the grace of God it wasn’t. That said, when you wake up at four in the morning with intense chest pain and unable to take a deep breath, you fear the worst.  In my case, I have a blood clot in my shoulder and a very small piece broke free and landed in my lung.  I am fortunate to live minutes from an ambulance station and a great hospital so with the help of some amazing medical professionals I am here to tell the story. But like I stated in my first post, it definitely makes you think about everything.

My path to recovery is relatively simple, so I am blessed.  I’ll be on blood thinners for a while and as long as this wasn’t caused by an underlying issue, I’ll be good as new in a few months.  My physicians best guess is that this was caused by an impact I took on my shoulder a few weeks back...probably caused damage to the veins.

Again, thank you all for the amazing support and well wishes.  Way more than I expected.

Your right, looking your own mortality in the face is sobering ... But here is one thing that really helped me through a serious illness a few years back. I never once entertained the the thought that it could kill me.  I knew it was possible, just not to me.  So even when the medication makes you feel like death already came to you .... keep your attitude above ground  Good , healthy optimism is sometimes the best medicine one can have.  And stop by here once in awhile and let us know how your doing.  Good luck sir🍀☘️

Thank you Jez.  I was a lurker for a long time before joining tob, so I am somewhat familiar with what you endured.  Let me say that you are my hero and a true rock star. I was always impressed with the attitude you put forward during a time that quite honestly sucked.  Kudos, girl!

My journey back to health will be a walk in the park compared to yours. Thank you again for being an inspiration to so many.

Do you , Enjoy You, then come back Full Force to play out the rest of your days with Your Unfinished Bucket list! Good luck 😘

Thanks, Chrissy.  Sounds like a good plan.  I’m still young enough that I should have a lot of days to play out...and that’s a good thing because my unfinished bucket list is still pretty long.

Fortunately this was just an eye opener and I should be good as new fairly soon.

You've been such a pleasure. I hope everything will be okay for you health wise. I really enjoyed your comments on the board, and our time and our conversations. Please know, you can always reach out to me anytime...if you're hobbying or just want to check in. Please take care. Much Love to you always, Hunter 🤗💋

PS. Maybe this means you can finally catch up on Better Call Saul 😉

Hunter, the pleasure has been all mine.  You are truly one of the most amazing women I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in or out of the hobby.  One regret in all this is not having gotten together with you more often, but I’ll never consider that out of the question.  In the meantime, I’ll start working on Better Call Saul.  You’re the best! 😘

  18. There’s nothing like staring your own mortality in the face to get you to thinking.  I recently had this meeting.  I’m happy to say I am fortunate to have good doctors who were able to diagnose and treat the issue early, so I should make a full recovery and be back to my old self...good or bad.  That said, an incident like this makes one rethink ones priorities.

I have met some wonderful ladies here and have had some good conversation with some of the gentlemen of tob and I do not regret a minute of it.  But in light of recent events, I am choosing to take a step back from the hobby and focus on my health and the things that make a difference in this world.

I want to thank all the wonderful ladies who made my time here so enjoyable and apologize to the ones who I have contacted but not had the chance to meet yet.  Please be patient with me and accept my call/message if and when I return.  My best to you all and I wish you all the Merriest Christmas holiday season.

    Be safe out there!
