    An easy way is to call a military base ask for the Chaplin's office. They can help you find a family who can use support.

    As a retired military guy I want to say something. We hear a lot of "support our military, veterans, etc., but if you really want to help contact the family of a deployed serviceman. They need support not necessarily financial, but someone to bitch to, someone to listen about their worries, someone to take the kids for afternoon. Communication between them and their serviceman is a lot easier than when I was in Nam (twice), but they are still missing him/her.

    Some up but also downs. Had to put my wife in a nursing home. Just could not manage to have her in my home. She is still mentally here (thank God), but has short term memory loss. Don't ask her what she had for breakfast, but remembers things a year ago. I live within a mile so I go to see her every day.  My dog, Goldendoodle, is loosing his hair. Vet says thyroid, but pills don't seem to help. However, this past week one of my granddaughters and her three kids came to visit for a week. Haven't seen them in about 10 years. Also number 3 daughter visited. Went to Puerto Vallarta for a week with Number 1 son and his wife. Great - low 80's no rain and it was an all inclusive so good food and as many drinks as you want. Pool/beach side service. My ATF lost her son. Feel so bad for her. But saw the great side of the hobby when her cohorts stepped up to help. Still have to use a walker, but can get around fairly well. Steps aren't great. My number 2 son now lives with me and takes wonderful care of me. Sometimes I think he babies me too much.

    Ass holes are everywhere, but just to be sure be EXTRA CAREFUL. If you do out-calls have the "John" walk you to your car. Double verify in calls. If you tell them what's happening they won't mind a bit of extra checking.
