Domestic violence is real and happens more than any of us want to believe, think, or talk about. It usually happens with those closest to us and it will never be fixed, healed or ended. Abusers continue to abuse and it only escalates. This does not mean that someone suffering from this violence is trapped. Please trust me that you will never be trapped. Domestic violence rears its ugly head in many forms...this can be shown by verbal “you’re worthless”, “nobody would want/love you”, “you can’t survive without me”, “too stupid to make it without me”...the list goes on and on... Mental/emotional. Is someone keeping you isolated from others? Closely monitoring everything you say/do where you have no personal freedom? Is everything YOUR fault? You were hit or yelled at because of something YOU did? If you wouldn’t have said/done whatever you wouldn’t be in “trouble” “hurt” or “I now have to punish you”??? Physical violence starts slowly and grows with such destruction that it ALWAYS ends with death....unless the two are separated. Someone died and I cannot fathom someone here in Colorado suffering the same fate.
