Posted October 28, 2016 I would love to know what others have as favorites in this genre. Shall we have a reading? Ladies and gents, are we appropriately attired in our gowns and tweed jackets (suede elbow patches, antelope, unborn)??? Have we the wine, brandy, or champagne of our choice? Our pipes fully charged and cigars drawing well? Very well, I shall begin: *ahem* A Courtesan's Love Lyric by Veronica Franco My rewards will be commensurate with your gifts if only you give me the one that lifts me laughing ... And though it costs you nothing, still it is of immense value to me. Your reward will be not just to fly but to soar, so high that your joys vastly exceed your desires. And my beauty, to which your heart aspires and which you never tire of praising, I will employ for the raising of your spirits. Then, lying sweetly at your side, I will shower you with all the delights of a bride, which I have more expertly learned. Then you who so fervently burned will at last rest, fully content, fallen even more deeply in love, spent at my comfortable bosom. When I am in bed with a man I blossom, becoming completely free with the man who loves and enjoys me.
Posted October 29, 2016 Poetry is a beautiful thing. I have written all sorts of Poems from Romantic to Observant of the day to day, or even dare I say that I have written Erotic poetry. Here is one of my favorites: I feel the cold of the frost bitten world just outside the curtains. I feel you press up against me and my body feels your warmth. Warmth of love and body, I cannot resist smiling as I hold you close. The buzz of the alarm clock fades into the back round compared to the melody of your soft breath with occasional snore. If you would image, you make my soul smile.I have to go to work, and that smirk that you wear in your dreaming business is quite distracting. So I get up, my luscious body cold...and I make haste to get clothes on, but I stall to make glance, after glance, at your beautiful sleeping form who is taking a peak at me.Sleep tight sleeping beauty for you are beautiful, and when we share a rocking chair you will be as beautiful as the day I met you.
Posted October 29, 2016 sor juana to her lesbian lover: My Divine Lysis My divine Lysis: do forgive my daring, if so I address you, unworthy though I am to be known as yours. I cannot think it bold to call you so, well knowing you've ample thunderbolts to shatter any overweening of mine. It's the tongue that misspeaks when what is called dominion-- I mean, the master's rule-- is made to seem possession by the slave. The vassal says: my king; my prison, the convict says; and any humble slave will call the master his without offense. Thus, when I call you mine, it's not that I expect you'll be considered such-- only that I hope I may be yours. I saw you-need more be said? To broadcast a fire, telling the cause suffices-- no need to apportion blame for the effect. Seeing you so exalted does not prevent my daring; no god is ever secure against the lofty flight of human thought. There are women more deserving, yet in distance from heaven the humblest of valleys seems no farther than the highest peak. In sum, I must admit to the crime of adoring you; should you wish to punish me, the very punishment will be reward.
Posted October 29, 2016 @LovelySimone Did you write that? It's wonderful! My own attempts are nowhere near as good. @Mr.Pink Bravo, sir! Excellent selection! One of my short favorites, from the timeless W.B. Yeats. A warning to all hobbyists: The Mermaid A mermaid found a swimming lad, Picked him for her own, Pressed her body to his body, Laughed; and plunging down Forgot in cruel happiness That even lovers drown.

Posted October 30, 2016 Between Your Sheets Between your sheets you soundly sleep Nor dreams of vigils that we lovers keep While all the night, I waking sign your name, The tender sound does every nerve inflame, Imagination shows me all your charms, The plenteous silken hair, and waxen arms, The well turned neck, and snowy rising breast And all the beauties that supinely rest between your sheets. Ah Lindamira, could you see my heart, How fond, how true, how free from fraudful art, The warmest glances poorly do explain The eager wish, the melting throbbing pain Which through my very blood and soul I feel, Which you cannot believe nor I reveal, Which every metaphor must render less And yet (methinks) which I could well express between your sheets.
Posted October 31, 2016 @Mr.Pink Thank you @Laplace Yes, wrote the poem. Passion is beautiful, and the poem was modeled on the thought of sweet love & growing old together. Simone

When you are old and grey and full of sleep, And nodding by the fire, take down this book, And slowly read, and dream of the soft look Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep; How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true, But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, And loved the sorrows of your changing face; And bending down beside the glowing bars, Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled And paced upon the mountains overhead And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.
