  1. SOWET users beware.

The legal system is partly about the law. You are right that much about the legal system is government power and economics. In this situation, Sowet better have deep pockets to fight these charges. The Feds may have already seized assets depriving him of the ability to defend himself. Sowet provided a website that met a demand. I do not know if he is guilty of the charges (I suspect the charges are trumped up), but at least most of the activity facilitated by his website was consensual and victimless.
  2. SOWET users beware.

I do not recall that he posted any reviews with graphic details. I think he mainly indicated that he was given a massage.
  3. SOWET users beware.

I believe that SOWET would post about visiting various AMPs but his comments were never graphic. He often just said that he visited and talked to the owner. The indictment implies that he facilitated trafficking just by running website with reviews of the AMPs and by taking ad revenue from the AMPs. Perhaps SOWET had more involvement than implied from his website. This indictment would send a chill in me if I ran a website like TOB or backpage. Sowet may beat the charges but he will need deep pockets to fight the charges. It seems that the same charges could be brought by any website that posts reviews and/or accepts ad revenues from providers.
  4. Thoughts on asking some personal questions

You asserted that you would be more likely to have an outside interaction with a married provider. I do not understand your reasoning. Most providers are likely suspicious about personal questions. Unless you know a provider well, I would not ask personal questions especially questions about their love life.
  5. Busted by LE

I did walk out of a sting in another city a number of years ago. I only said that I just wanted a massage. I was either lucky or caught a huge break from LE even though I never mentioned an illegal services. They could have arrested me and let me sort it out. I am certain that I was in a sting. As I was leaving, a man came to the door with a holstered gun. Read me post to see the details. At least 95 possibly 99 out of 100 who enter the sting, get arrested.
  6. Busted by LE

I feel your pain. If I had been arrested in my incident, my life would have been horribly impacted. I was in a more compromising position than you. I was very lucky that LE did not arrest me even though I only said that I wanted a massage. The ramifications of an arrest are sobering.
  7. Busted by LE

I will bite. I had a near arrest experience less than 10 years ago in another city. In hindsight, I was very stupid. However, I kept my cool when it counted most and did not get arrested. My experience was probably rare as most men who got in the room with a female officer would get busted. I found a FBSM ad in an alternative paper or website in city I was visiting. I called the number and asked about availability and rate. She was evasive not committing to any rate. I did not ask about any specific services, just an appointment. The photos in the ad were somewhat evasive not showing much skin. Against my better judgment, I proceeded to drive to the hotel. I got lost and called again. I parked and went inside a modest size hotel. Upon going to the elevator, I was met by several fairly burly men. It made me a little nervous but it did not stop me. I then proceeded to the room. She was dressed rather plain, not impressing me. I was not sure if she was the woman in the photos. She then began asking me what services I wanted. I replied that I just wanted a massage. She tried to calm me by getting me a bottle of water. She then came on even stronger almost demanding to know what services I wanted. I only replied that I wanted a massage. Finally, I said that I forgot my money and got up to leave. As I walked to the door, a man walked in with a holster and gun. She said "Hello Joe" in a disappointed tone. I left without saying anything not bothering to look at either one. I was sweating bullets when I returned to my rental car in the parking lot. An arrest would have ruined my life. The signs of a sting were obvious in retrospect. She was evasive on the phone about rates. She was demanding in the room about services that I wanted. She wore drab clothes rather than dressing sexy. She was also wide open on appointments, not really even setting a specific time. Despite not indicating any specific services that I wanted, I was still fortunate not to get arrested. They could have arrested me and made me sort out the details in court, costing thousands along with terrible personal consequences.
  8. possible scam

I replied to a BP ad and was sent a message about visiting this site (protctdaters.com/cathy093) for verification. I did not visit the site because it looks like scam, possibly a virus or identify theft play. Does anyone have experience with this possible scam? The ad was removed after a few hours.
