How about some advice for newbies? How do you make a provider comfortable with no references?

I'm traveling on business to Denver next week. Will be only my second time looking for professional company. I enjoyed a great mutual fbsm on a recent trip to San Diego that I found thru bp. Is bp safe in Denver? I'm not a member of any verification site. Is that going to limit me? i could use some advice. I'm mid 30's, fit and I love to please.
