Man, this one hit me hard. Haven't felt like this since Brecker died.  And yes, COMPLETELY different players/styles.

Sonny was RIGHT THERE in the mix in the 50s/60s when jazz (imo) really took off.  He was a big part of it.  A deeply spiritual man (like Coltrane and Dizzy).  He will be missed but absolutely not forgotten.
