P411 Two-Factor Authentication

24 posts in this topic

Like most other major advertising venues P411 is requiring two-factor authentication now. Are the p411 men getting this requirement too? @Developer is this something TOB has in the plans? I feel it would help weed out the fake and stolen provider profiles on here.

Yes it is. The forum already has this but for when it is upgraded.

Thank you. If I can make a suggestion. Right now P411 has us doing text message authentication to our phone. I travel out of country often and can't receive text messages when I am abroad. That means my P411 messages won't be able to be replied to until I return. I am contacting them about that. Text verification is tough in all website stuff including doctors offices IMO.

The 2FA I have setup is a choice of either text messages, or using an Authenticator app, like Google Authenticator. You login, and then open the Authenticator app and has a rotating pin that you type in.

Takes an extra step to setup, but if you can do that… then it’s the best and most secure.

text message 2FA will still be an option, but one of them will work and provider chooses it.

I also travel abroad :)

Yes, I use  Google Authenticator for my Tryst and Eros. That even works out of country. I would be happy if P411 even offered that option. I do agree Google Authenticator is the most secure.

Yes. It will be a part of it. I actually prefer to use an authenticator app and NOT using text messages, personally. It's an added cost for text messages and we already deal with an issue with not all texts being received because they get blocked by the text message service. And, it's not like the accept adult dating.

Using authenticator is a few hours of work to setup and we're done but need to also look at it from everyone's angle. Not all people are tech savy and it may be harder to use authenticator. Have to cater to the lowest common denominator.

It does take a little time to figure out the authentication app, but well worth the effort and privacy.  Will men on the forum have to do a 2 step log in process also? It does protect their accounts from being hacked too.

I say yes, but I am not sure I will be overruled on it. It may be optional for them. It may be optional for providers too, I'm not sure yet, but it will be a feature.

I think it will come to push back. I can make it easy as possible for the authenticator. I will just have some instructions to download the app and then walk them through how to open up the scanning part of the app and then click a link to generate the QR code they scan.

We will have a lot more indepth documentation here on how to do everything, that is also sorely missing from TOB. Like what is and is not allowed in ads, what constitutes a good review, how to setup the 2FA and so on.

hopefully p411 has a workaround 2fa source for you while on travel...

... p411 has had a 2fa feature for years.
i used it in the past but eventually disabled it due to reliability issues. glitchy.
since its now mandatory i reenabled the feature yesterday. unfortunately,
the same issues persist. this morning it took me about 10 attempts to enter the 2fa code before i was able to log in.

I am not having any glitches logging in at all, but I did have to use my real phone number :( No matter how I tried it would not accept my hobby phone. My hobby phone won't get SMS messages correctly. It looks like they are working on setting up an authentication app. This will solve my issues when I travel, and I will be able to remove my real phone number asap. I do want my account secured for sure! I had my account hacked once and it was no bueno.

This is from the p411 message:

"This means that when logging in, you will be required to verify your identity not only with your password, but also with a second factor—such as a code sent via SMS or generated by an authentication app.  Enabling 2FA takes just a few minutes and adds a strong extra layer of protection against unauthorized access"

I agree with this. As a UK based provider I cannot login using the text messaging system from my UK phone. 2FA is the best as I can set that up on my device. The text code verification does not work unless you have a US based number so I cannot properly secure it with my device. I have to use my published work number which in my opinion is less secure.

P411 got the authenticator app and email 2FA options up yesterday :) Yay!

yay indeed! sometimes it takes a digital village (or five thousand plus frustrated provider voices) for things to get heard. but at least the glitch is finally fixed ~

@The Divorce Coach ~ @Caressa Duval @AudreyYork

This has been implemented into the new version of TOB, and I've made it a bit more secure, but will be optional (but recommended).

I've also added in layers to this. Eg, maybe you don't need to use 2FA to login, but we can set it up so that you can require it to change your email, your password, etc.

Attached some screenshots for reference.

Considering screening and, with the exception of sending a cash card when, fuck all that, deposits, and other desperate means result in RWI making it home to roost, you betcha.

Look, including right here on TOB, there are far too many lovely ladies, and beaucoup others in not so lovely honey pots who get it fine, for some fool to risk pants at ankles from the rip. Hold on while I find that, and a slew of other cautionary tales.

@Mouthy-Meg has also seen me make another thing clear. It's estimated anywhere from 50% to 90% of male hobbyists are married. IDK about you, but it's easy for me to extrapolate the percentage of those who will gladly risk it all for strange from the greater percentage who will find the path of least resistance. They are plentiful.

I'll probably make you required to have it, just because I can ;)

All that power you have . Just one way to decrease TOB subscribers' buyer pool ;).
