Not looking forward to the coming cold

28 posts in this topic

I'm starting to see glimpses of how older people complain about the cold and not being able to deal with it as well.  Not looking forward to the bitter cold that is headed our way

Yep, it's gonna be a cold weekend.  Hope for no freezing pipes for folks, and everyone stays warm and snuggled up with someone special.

Where I work, frozen pipes are a guaranteed thing we have to deal with unfortunately

It's going to be uncommonly cold here  near Orlando.  May not break 65 for the next few days.....

I’ve been in Orlando and Tampa when the temps were mid 60’s and it was definitely cold. That humidity just makes it worse.

I can handle the cold temps coming…I’ll layer up if I go outside.

I can handle the snow coming.

But that cold and snow together, no effing way!

I usually do my weekly grocery shopping Saturday mornings. I just came back from doing it. The store still had full shelves. Something we won’t see come Saturday morning with people freaking out about the snow and cold.

Everybody stay warm and safe this weekend.

40 degrees here  in Orlando area as well. Raining. Dropping to 35 Friday night. Had to put on my winter-weight sandals.... 😀

So....when was the last time Pensacola, FL got more snow in a  given day than Vail?

Brisk. It's been raining since Sunday, when it got up to 80° and then dropped 25° in about 45 minutes. It's been hovering right around 50° ever since. But my lime tree's in bloom and the mangos are putting up bud stalks. Azaleas will start anytime.  It's just brutal.

I bet your yard is lovely!

I have a gala apple tree and a maple along with a giant 20 foot cottonwood(accidentally planted). As you know yards are seldom large in Denver. If I could I would love a grove of fruit barring trees. lol I could go sell fruit at the farmers market. That sounds like fun! ☺️

Denver was a very tough place for gardening. 7 years out of 10, my tulips and bulbs turned to mush under a couple feet of spring snow, and the warm/cold cycles in the winter were tough on plants that needed a consistent dormant period. I had a neighbor who had some legacy apple trees and I looked forward to those in the fall.  South FL east coast is just magic. Not too hot, not too cold. Roses year round, great fruit trees. My hibiscus are in full bloom.

Sounds like paradise with all the beauty and fragrances in the air. Natures perfume.

I have shared some of my plant picture on TOB in the past. This last summer I did very well and it was plants and bulbs from years prior that were  blooming. Trust me, I know all about the Japanese beetles and about impossible weather with,  hail, flooding, too much sun, and wind, destructive animals in Colorado. Yes it is very difficult to grow flowers and plants here. I 100% agree!  I have a lot of plants indoors too. I guess I live for  life and that’s why I  love summer and I have a need to have plants around me. Right now I have a jalapeño tree growing in my entranceway. I don’t know how much longer it’s gonna last? Lol It has yielded so many jalapeños. I am  saving them for my friends who love them.

Here we go again. We will need to bundle up next week.

Me either! If my family didn’t live here, I probably would go somewhere warmer to live. Yuck!  Slipping and falling on the ice as it disturbs me the most I think I’m going  to watching my elderly neighbors. As well as myself. 🙁 Thank goodness my bone density testing  came back healthy! . Any more in life I’m thankful for my health in life that is doing well!

As an arkansas native. This isn't hot compared to the humid southern scorchers! Here you find some shade to catch your breath. In the South you just die....😂

Yeah, I've lived in TN, GA and SC and I know how brutal it gets down there. But I'm here now and have gotten pretty soft, so boo hoo, I can't wait for the cooler weather to come back. 😓
