RIP Jimmy Carter

14 posts in this topic

He was certainly not the worst president ever and was probably not the best one either.  But I do not think there is any question he was the best person who was ever president, at least in my life time.  Just do not make many like Jimmy. RIP sir.

What Jimmy Carter brought to the presidency was truly needed when he was elected following Nixon and Ford.  His presidency did not accomplish as much as many hoped (but he did the heavy lifting on the hostage crisis, even though they were released right after the election and RR got more credit for the release than deserved).  He was a breath of fresh air and stayed true to his values in his presidency and throughout the rest of his life.  He will be remembered for who he was and for the good works accomplished post-presidency.  People may not agree with all of his politics but hopefully will admit he was a man who lived his values...every day.  And those values featured kindness, service and humility.

•Do keep in mind a Life Well lived and condolences for the man that lived to 100 years of age, a marriage of 75 years and the humanity reflected in the houses Jimmy Carter help build..

•Don’t drag this into a political debate and going off topic.

Rest in peace Jimmy Carter….

As a human being…The Greatest. We should all strive to emulate Jimmy Carter. He gave us everything he had and worked tirelessly to try and better his fellow humans and those less fortunate.

I will always remember meeting him in the San Francisco Airport. We were in the same flight coming to Denver. After everyone was seated and before the plane pushed back, he came through the plane and shook hands with every passenger and took the time talk and wish each individual well in life.

Rest In Peace President Carter.

You will be missed in this world.

I watched a biography about him a little while ago. He did a lot of things that set in motion the fall of the Iron Curtain that I was very much unaware of.

I have a lot of respect for JC as a person and a new found respect for him as President. He was a kind and decent man and used all of the runway so to speak.

Loved his charity achievements, there were many.

Sad he passed, but he lived a great life for sure.

Such a great story for sure! He was a kind man. The world is a lesser place for his passing.

The World and the US could use another person like him right now.

Nothing but respect for JC. He was a kind soul. We could use another kind soul in our government these days.

JC's devotion for Habitat for Humanity is well documented. He gave so much of himself to help less fortunate people for many long years. Something we could all take note of.  He was behind a lot of US policy that brought down the "Iron Curtain" that I was not aware of. Google it, I was surprised at his skill at "Foreign Policy"

Nothing here but respect for President Carter. The world is a sadder place without him.

Thank you for reminding people of this, I for one appreciate it.

Well said.

He did a lot more during his Presidency than a lot of people think to bring down the "Iron Curtain" look into it and you will be as surprised a I.

It's all about US foreign policy. He set the stage for sure.

Happy New Year bud!

IMHO, Pres. Carter was the best EX-President of my lifetime.  I think he was operating above his Peter Principle during his administration… But his time in the White House gave him the international fame to accomplish great things with Habitat for Humanity and with his international election certification efforts. These illustrated the great man of impeccable moral character.

May he rest in the peaceful hands of the Lord.

I thought he had the best diplomacy.  As his personality seemed to be quite genuine.  In 1977 i was in the sixth grade. Wow to live 100 years. This is just another realization on my age. No I am not that old  🫣

Jimmy Carter was a little before my time, before I followed politics.  (I always wanted to try Billy Beer.) But one thing I think of when it comes to Jimmy Carter is that during his 4 years in office, he only took 79  vacation days.  By far the lowest amount of any president since Hoover.  When he was elected he came to work and that is something I respect.

I truly hope that flags are kept at half staff for the full 30 days after his death. (As is customary for all deceased US presidents)

RIP Mr. Carter
