Correction, I wasn't critiquing 2 sport athletes. I was asked why didn't I play baseball and football in the pros like Bo and Deon. And now that you bring up The Goat, lol his skills were below the other two. Mike could have been a lot better but he found out its not that easy hitting a small white ball coming at you some 100 mph. Its a few things a great batting coach should have worked on with him but it clearly shows that they didn't or Mike didn't listen.

It's amazing how a G.O.A.T. in one sport can be a mere mortal and a nobody in another!

Obviously athletic skill sets do not translate from sport to sport.

But of all the sports ... hitting a 100 mph fastball (with late movement) ... has to be the most difficult!

Although, watching the Olympics ... gymnastics could be the most-unique athletic skill set of them all!

The average couch potato ... can not fully appreciate the hours of practice, training, athletic prowess and dedication it takes to perform on that level!

The moves that these Olympic gymnasts perform ... do not seem humanely possible!

All of those guys could have been much better HONESTLY. They were afforded the opportunity to step into what it took others years to do all because of there celebrity status. If Mike had 5 years and a good batting coach, he would have been a lot better. He wouldn't have achieved GOAT status though. Yes, late movement will get you every single time when a baseball is coming at you that fast. I myself would start my routine/motion of my swing when the pitcher is about to release the ball. Then you have to make a split second decision if you are going to swing at a change up/fastball/curve. Fast pitch softball is another story. The average guy is going to sit on the side and talk shit LOL..................... Funny, I just IGNORE them because they all technically want your ATTENTION but don't realize you are a FAN that is scared to admit it. Simone gets all types of HATE LOL but the real is the real. She's THE GOAT......................... Every GOAT gets HATED on, it comes with the territory....................

If you wanna talk about G.O.A.T.s ... let's not talk about G.O.A.T.s transitioning from one sport to another ... let's talk about G.O.A.T.s transitioning from one era to another!

i.e., Ted Williams!

There's NWIH Ted Williams would bat .400 in today's game!

His entire career TW largely faced ... white, complete-game, tired-armed, 85-mph rightees!

(THEY are DINOSAURS; THEY DON'T EXIST in TODAY'S GAME!)

If TW steps up to the plate in the 9th inning and faces a 6'4" 220 lb, 100 mph, flame-throwing, lefthanded Dominican (LIKE Aroldis Chapman) ... HE'S in for a BIG WAKE UP CALL!

There's NWIH he's battin' .400!

The guys that didn't want to run it back with you could have been two types of guys. One doesn't want to run it back with you because they CONFIDENTLY know the results are going to be the same, they just view you as a sore loser. The second type of guy knows you gave him hell on the court and they don't want to face you for fear of losing for sure. Tommy DeVito = overrated and Brock Purdy = lucky he was on the 49ers. LOL, I would take Jim McMahon and the 1984 Chicago Bears over any other team in football................. I would have to BENCH Mike Ditka though LOL. That asshole destroyed the greatest football team in history (in my opinion).

In street ball, if you beat a guy ... you always allow him to run it back on you!

If you're not up to it ... you shouldn't be on the court in the first place!

(In tennis could you image beating a player in the 1st set ... and refusing to play a 2nd set?)

CORRECTION.............My post LOL was about a Father and a son. Others who have commented (including you) have brung up two way sport athletes and GOATS. Even TOB got in on it and changed my POST to Sports Franchise Father and Son Duos. I just comment but its not what I want to talk about LOL. This is what YOU GUYS want to talk about. Okay, so now that I got that out of the way, I will talk about what you want to talk about, meaning GOATS transitioning from one era to another. You make me laugh because you always see straight ahead, you don't focus on the whole entire picture. You bring up Ted Williams not being able to bat 400 in today's game. You can't have your cake and eat it too. What thate means is, if you are going to take the old school Ted Williams and bring him to this new school eara, you have to take into account, Ted gets all of his HIGHLIGHTS exposed to the world. He gets newer shoes, newer batting equipment, newer sports medicine, newer baseballs that he didn't have in his era. Do you think he would not be a better player LOL? Lets take your 5'4 220lb Dominican and put him in Ted's era, old ass shoes, bats that are not that great, no INTERNET/CELL PHONES/HIGHLIGHT reals to look at, grass/field and injuries. Them guys back in the day played through injuries and they also were playing at an older age. Dude LOL, you better respect them OLD VETS....................... The game and all sports games are based off of OLD VETS. I guess what I am trying to say is, GOATS are GOATS in their own RESPECTIVE ERAS. No ERA had what the other ERA had, this is why you simply cannot compare GOATS from other ERAS. In my opinion, what you can COMPARE is what each INDIVIDUAL GOAT has done for his ERA. Here is something for you to take to the bank. Josh and Satch HIGHLIGHTS would definitely LOL be impressive........................ Now I am just speaking off the top of my head LOL but I am sure THE LIL FEMALE...........................LOL let me stop, I have so much fun fucking with my FANS...............................

WHEN YOU ARE THE MAN on the court, EVERYBODY knows it, now whether everybody wants to admit it or not is a total different story. THE MAN doesn't leave the court LOL. Like I said earlier, if you are that damn good, you either pat the guy on the shoulder and send him on his way or you give him another chance. Lets give a better analogy here. Lets take Tank Davis and Ryan Garcia. I know you are familiar with Ryan Garcia because you love/hate guys that dibble/dabble with steroids. Tank beat him PERIOD. He also beat PITBULL CRUZ PERIOD. Both want REMATCHES but Tank (The Man) isn't interested in either. He beat them and he knows he will beat them again. He is on to the next. Those guys have to get in line and hope they get a chance at a future REMATCH.

What do you think the average mph fastball TW faced during his career was?

How many lefthanded, 6'4'', 220 lbs, totally-ripped, 100 mph, Dominican flamethrowers did TW face in his career?

(If he gets 100 at-bats a year against the likes of an Aroldis Chapman .... there's NWIL he's batting .400 at the end of the year!)

He might not even break .300!

From the 5th inning on not only were TW's at-bats  against tired-armed pitchers trying to pitch a complete game ... he was seeing the same pitcher for the 3rd and 4th time!

THAT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN TODAY!

(Plus, when he was playing the infields were not as highly manicured as they are today!)

Of his .400 average season ... how many hits were the result of fortuitous, bad bounces?

Let's breakdown and crunch the #s on TW's 1941 .406 season: He had 185 hits in 456 at-bats! If you factor in the abovementioned factors that would assuredly have work against him ... IF HE GETS a MERE 3 LESS HITS ... He Doesn't Bat .400!

And furthermore, how many hits did he get off of The Green Monster ... that would have been routine outs in any other ballpark!

(Remember, we are only talking about 3 less hits during the course of the '41 season ... and he's not a .400 hitter!)

No respectable 1-on-1 basketball player, after he's beaten an opponent, denies him a second chance to take him down!

Like I said about tennis: No respectable tennis player just plays 1 set!

Of course Ted Williams would not hit .400 today.  He's a head in a jar, how can he swing a bat?  I apologize that is a bad joke.  I feel bad what happened to Ted Williams after his passing.

I don't like comparing different eras.  There are just too many variables, back in the day players smoked during games.  Training, equipment and PEDs give today's athlete too much of an advantage.  Ocassionally you might have a Rocky Balboa beating an Ivan Drago but more times then not today's athletes are better. (IMHO)

(I'D TAKE HIM to The WOODSHED!)

I'd straighten him out!

Then:

I would mentor him!

I would point him in the right direction!

I would show him the way!

I would show him how it's done!

I would flatten his learning curve!

I would show him how to be "a student of the game"!

i.e.,

How to develop street-smarts; how to separate the wheat from the chaff; how to identify low-information providers; how to read reviews; peruse websites; and connect the dots!

(So that he might benefit from my vast boots-on-the-ground, in-the-trenches experience!)

I can assure you under my tutelage he will no longer be venturing to the hood ... to hook-up with some low-information hood rat and be "getting PIMP SLAPPED/ROLLED/ROBBED"!

(Those days will be over!)

He's gunna be takin' his mongering to "the next level"!

i.e.,

He's gunna be spendin' his time and $$$ on PRIME, MINT-CONDITION, NUBILE, GFE P##SY!

From here on out ... He's Gunna Be Livin' Large!

(I'm gunna impart to him the fine art of being a DATY/DATO Aficionado (with Reddi Wip))!

TRS I am not sure if you have any SONS or not but sometimes you can raise/teach a child whatever you want too and they may still turn out to be the total opposite of what you wanted them to be.
