Second!

The 'Black Tide Rising' series by John Ringo

The 'Monster Hunter International' series by Larry Correia

Surprised you didn't add 'Freehold' by Michael Z Williamson.  A favorite of mine...

No GOT Spoiler's

I'm only into season 4 episode 7.

So any one who divulges spoiler info pertaining to season 4 and beyond will be banished to Castle Black to begin their Nights Watch and will have to take the oath.

Not the Oath, Please!!! if we undertook the Oath, we would no longer be able to visit this site as it would be useless to us! Unless we behaved like Jon Snow!!

As to my favorites, novels by James Michner, The Source and The Covenant. Interesting historical fictional look into the origins of Judaeo-Christianity and the political beginnings of South Africa respectively. Not the easiest to read but adds to your knowledge.

I like Williamson's stuff, but not as well as I like Ringo and Correia.

But then there is the book that is not our favorite. It is the tome that defines our path.

A woman I met, near to madness, she fell in love with Ayn Rand.

Later, she would laugh when I told her there was a book just like yours that followed a code of life.

This would be the book I'd read.

"Are you fucking kidding me?"

It will be the form of my definition.

I can live alone. I could die alone. I could live a thousand years and this is the only book I'd know.

"Yeah, buddy. Cheers."

She laughed at me and called me a fool.

I doubt though, she will ever met anyone the same.

Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.

-those windmills, they are giants.

those sheep, armies are they

i know another old legend from the old north

its about a wolf that swallowed the whole of humanity

I'm betting he chokes

I'm kicking the femur down his throat. Have a good drown.

Don Quixote, my name is Sancho Panza, and I am at your service.

Books that shape who I am?

While still in grade school my folks let me read What to Tell Your Children About Sex by one of the Friedman twins (Ann Landers or Abigail Van Buren).  This was my first “owners’ guide” to sexuality.

There's also the mundane Boy Scout Handbook, with all it’s advice for life from practical skills to the concepts of honor.

As a teen I discovered Edgar Rice Burroughs.  Not particularly his Tarzan series, or even his John Carter of Mars books, but some of his single stories like Lad and the Lion. His slant on gallantry/chivalry and how to treat others struck a chord.

Then in college I discovered R.A.Heinlein with his message on extended love.

No AtF but here are a few good ones

A Thousand Splendid Suns - Khaled Hosseini

The Dark Towers Series - Stephen King. I still feel so bad for all the people who passed away before he finished the series. That's the worst. 😢

For those of you that like a good Dracula book. The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova

Love Dracula! Color me dark...I love a good old fashioned 15 century haUnting! 😈

I like almost any Stephen King or Dean Koontz, which are perfect rainy day books since the gloomy atmosphere adds to the book.

Also just cause I watched the movie, I loved the Davinci Code.

Long distance book club could be fun.

I second both of these! I just finished the book Troublemaker by Leah Remini. Its SO GOOD!

I seem to re-read Tortilla Flats by Steinbeck every couple of yesrs. Never tire of it. Or Siddartha by Herman Hesse. Throw in some Thoreau too, guess I'm old school. I'm currently reading Sylvia Plath.

Heinlein’s Time Enough For Love

A classic.  One of my favorite books.  For fans of fantasy, check out David Eddings...The Mallorian and the Belgariad.  If you like things like Lord of the Rings, you may enjoy many of David Eddings works.

So, my favorite book, that I suggested, is now being made into a movie.  It doesn't look bad but there is so much the trailer doesn't show and I doubt will some parts will be in the movie.  Also, the book is more about the people around the dog and less about the dog.  The dog just happens to be the narrator.

Great Movie!
