Getting a little wound up over Ms AOC?  You went to school for paleo climatology?  Just before you left you said pre-law and you were a fellow card carrying libertarian by your statements on here.  Were you abducted by a bunch of flat earther tea party whack jobs back east?  Come back a Trump supporter calling names and spewing official Hannity talking points?  Wow.  You are waaaay smarter than that M.

I Went to school and got a bachelors degree in Geography and Environmental Science. I took classes in paleo-climatology. I never said pre-law, I said I wanted to go to law school....and for all you know I am doing just that at Duke. And I am a libertarian which is why I can’t stand her. She’s an uneducated idiot!just listen to her speak, it’s painful.  As for being a Trump supporter, FUCK YES I AM!!!!!  Sean hannity is not an influence, however I have listened to Rush Limbaugh every single day for 26 years.  Not apologizing for it either!

Even as a libertarian I’m not sure how you still support Trump. Actually it seems what he’s trying to push runs counter to what libertarians would be in favor of. And I’m separating what he promised with less government and the reality of him attempting some major power grabs and using his position in the government to directly affect private entities.

Sorry Melissa but if you believe any of what spills out of Trump's mouth Hannity is a MAJOR influence because they are practically symbiotic. As to AOC she is but one of 535 congress members and i still do not understand either side getting all flustered about her. She is young, sincere, energetic and sadly in my opinion completely mistaken in many opinions but i give her credit for being sincere and energetic ........ just dont share her views. Calling her names, yelling, etc. is what is done by those who cannot logically support their views, and yes most vocal Trumpies fit that description.

Where was her internship?  Does she have any practical experience in either field?

Well just let me add something. Someone will have to pay for her New Green Deal. No matter how good or bad the idea. I have had business and economics.  Nothing is for free. Government will just tax business. Business will just pass these taxes down to us. We will have no choice but to pay. Then you will have less funds to hobby or you might have to do without something else.  So if you are on this board, you might want to think about it a little more. You might change your mind. Government isn't the answer to everything. Plus to be in Congress all you need is that one vote the other candidate didn't get.

She interned under Ted Kennedy. Look, I get it, she’s proposing some major changes and really not a lot to back it. I still don’t see how so many are upset by her when, as someone else pointed out, she’s but a single person in a sea. We have a president with literally no experience in politics and has proven he can run businesses into the ground. Why isn’t everyone on here up in arms about that lack of experience and ineptitude. I know I keep pointing it back to him but I just don’t understand the ire this 20 something year old gets but the 72yr old in office leading the change  gets a pass.

You’re correct. She is but one member of Congress. In a perfect, idealistic world her ideas have merit.  But that’s not the world we live in.  I’m actually more upset that the “adults” in the room, particularly those in her own party, continue to let her spout the childish ideas of ice cream & cake for everyone without countering them with a reality check. But then again, it’s easy to spend other peoples’ money.  Too bad it’s yours & mine they’re spending.

As I’ve said before, I’m not a fan of Pres. Trump either.  Some of his ideas are just as ridiculous.  He is right in one area; we have a crisis on our southern border.  One that Congress has been sweeping under the rug for decades. The Wall is not the answer, but neither is an open border.  I’m sitting not 20mi from that border; the crisis is real.

I mean, why would they check her? She clearly strikes a nerve so let her do her thing for now. Trump has gone on record and completely lied, as I’m easily fact checked and lied but his party doesn’t come in and correct him. Instead it’s spun or double downed own.  So why should it happen for one but not the other. As for money wasted...it didn’t start with her that’s for sure. Again, it’s just weird to me that suddenly everyone is up in arms with this one woman when we’ve had literal decades of old heads fucking shit up with asinine policies and legit wasteful spending.

As for the southern border I agree with you something needs to be done. No questions about that. I will ask you to point me to someone actually stating “open borders” though. Also, Trump had 2 years of absolute control with Republicans running The House and the Senate. Why wasn’t it such a crisis then? If there was a time to get it done it would’ve been during those years when there was little push back but instead it appears to be more of a manufactured stunt. So yeah, we agree something should be done but I’m stopping short of giving him credit.

I think both parties are an absolute disgrace. I just don’t like how one seemingly has be accountable while the other doesn’t even attempt to hide its misdeeds.

Just as Trump could have done something about the border when Republicans controlled, Obama could have done something about the Dreamers when Democrats controlled.

But I think the border crisis has been manufactured.  Remember the old saying, “Follow the money.”?  Who is supporting the waves (caravans) of folks coming up out of Central America?  We didn’t have anything like the current numbers 2 years ago.  A neighbor speculated the other day that it was Russia, trying to destabalize the US and distract us from what they are doing on the world stage.  Possible?  I also suspect the rich Left (Soros?) trying to discredit Trump.

I've read the Libertarian and Republican preambles to find some of each resonating. But the thing is, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity are Libertarians, Rush Limbaugh and Tucker Carlson Republicans. Now amorphous, can anyone tell the difference in their messaging? Moreover, which of the platforms are most substantive?

Thanks to President Barack Obama, we were living through one of the greatest financial recoveries since World War II yet, who benefited? Who doesn't need quality, affordable healthcare yet, how many in this country can afford it? Who doesn't need food, affordable housing yet, how many go without it, live paycheck to paycheck at best? How many of us have aging parents who, like us, are facing an official raid on the Social Security and Medicare entitlements we've all contributed to since 1965? Lost pensions?

As We the Peasants scrap over this bill of goods called capitalism, how many of us are its cronies? Where the truth is rich Democrats are no different, there are major distinctions. First, the REPUBLICAN PARTY IS NOT the party of fiscal responsibility, the Democratic party is http://bit.ly/2FYq9LK. Yet, it's the so called "liberal" policies that tend to benefit the larger demographic and thereby the greater good.

So, those of you sporting MAGA gear while struggling to pay bills, a paycheck away from needing assistance need to ask, "who you gonna call"? Biting off your nose to spite your face, it better not be the local welfare office, clueless hypocrite.

Confiscation of wealth to a single entity (or authorized insurance companies in some formulations) that controls the price and provider does not equal healthcare. An abundance of willing healthcare practitioners willing to serve those needing their services does.

All talking points and soundbites aside, there is no governmental solution to healthcare.

Confiscation of wealth? Insurance companies that control the price and provider? Looks as much like Big Pharma to me as "an abundance of willing healthcare practitioners willing to serve those needing their services" does socialism, as we see here.

Or the rich right (the Koch Family)? There was a ton of coverage about the threat that was the caravan going into midterms coming from the right and especially the president. Midterms happen and suddenly coverage stops? The president backs off talking about it? What sense does that make?

Let’s not go down the road of conspiracies or the rich left while also avoiding the vast wealth of the right and their influence. Look no further than the president’s cabinet to see the highest donors somehow found themselves on seats they had 0 qualification for.

You guys are going to keep going back and forth arguing that your viewpoint is the only correct viewpoint and not one of you will step back and say...you know what, he may have a valid point.

That's what is wrong with our country right now. Nobody is willing to concede a little or compromise and maybe tolerate a different viewpoint.

DAMN

Yeah I’m not sure where you’re pulling it but for the most part there has been a lot of concession and then the few, very vocal outliers.

Most agree her proposals need some heavy looking over if not outright laughable.

Most agree the current president is also fairly laughable and under qualified.

Most agree we shouldn’t be discussing her appearance because that has little to do with the argument because god forbid someone talk about how unattractive a lady of TOB is.

We’ve actually agreed that illegal immigration should be a focal point though how it’s being presented to the masses is the wrong tactic.

So, where are we not looking at it and saying, “he may have a valid point.” I can say someone had a valid point while also scrutinizing other aspects of the same argument. And the same can said about those coming at me.

What I’m trying to say here is that both the right and the left sides have valid points and neither side is 100% right or 100% wrong and yet both sides keep trying to point and counterpoint the other side without acknowledging that maybe, just maybe the other viewpoint has some validity.

My point was that Single payer and the Insurance system we know are both scams masquerading as healthcare.

Healthcare is something that happens when a provider helps someone who feels the need for a healer.

When anybody in the political elite from any party uses the term "access to healthcare" they are talking about paying someone to hold your money and dole it out as they see fit (after skimming to line their pockets).
