Please site specific examples of them attempting to “shut down free speech.” As well her being a communist. Again, I don’t agree with everything she puts out there but if you’re going to throw out some inflammatory accusations you should be readily able to back it up in spades. 

I actually encourage anyone to follow suit. If the argument is media falsely portraying “what real Americans” want and believe yet you sound like a fanatical media outlet then there’s not much room for discourse.

Slow down there, buckaroo. I’m not the one hurling insults. That’s actually a fairly one sided affair in this current thread. I’m just asking for people to back their claims. Secondly, you guys should dial back the insults pertaining to her appearance. For examples of Antifa shutting down free speech, check the various riots last year at UC-Berkeley whenever a conservative speaker was scheduled to appear. 

Though both sides misbehaved in SC last year, the neo-nazis had a permit, Antifa did not.  W/o Antifa that should have been a peaceful protest.

As for AOC, I feel that her proposed policies are contrary to American mores, and I question her analytic/reasoning abilities.  Oh, her programs sound grand.  But she has not proposed realistic options to fund them.  Sure, the Feds can just print money, but what will you do when a loaf of bread costs $50?

1.) There was definitely a squashing of conservative speakers and UC Berkeley settled a lawsuit for this. So I can't argue with on that one. I also won't go into a tit for tat point out conservatives doing the pretty much the same thing. 

2.) I don't think when you are "uniting the right" as a neo-nazis group shouting extremely vile things you're looking for a peaceful protest especially when your point is provocation, but that's not the point of this one. The point is the counter protesters did in fact have permits for McGuffey and Justice Parks. Emancipation Park did not require protests as stated by the city council. So those "antifa" individuals followed the laws required to be there and protest just as the other side. The permit argument should be dropped at this point. As an aside, I really don't know why it's so hard to show full disgust with a MASSIVE NEO-NAZI GROUP MARCHING IN 2018.

3.) There is nothing wrong questioning her abilities. We should question all politicians. This exact line of thinking should be encouraged on every level for both sides of the aisle. Her programs do sound grandiose and should be fully examined to determine viability. I agree with you 100%.

While I agree that their message is disgusting, I support their right to peacefully deliver it.  I equally support your right to ignore it or peacefully argue against it.  This was the genius of Ghandi and Dr. M.L.King, Jr.

I remember being in Lincoln Park,  Chicago, the summer of ‘68 in my dress greens explaining to Yippies that I served to protect their right to voice their opinions.  We should not be afraid of dissenting opinions. I’m not sure the start of the thread was a light hearted post and then again, maybe it was meant that way.

Some of us have managed (mostly) to stick w/the issues w/o calling each other names. Such civil discourse helps to stretch the brain and expose the participants to new ideas, or perhaps a new way to look at old ones.  Yeah, it’s a rare thing when we step outside of our echo chambers.  I find it refreshing. 😊

Advocating violence should never be condoned and is not acceptable, no matter who advocates it.

You’re telling me the Congressional Baseball shooting barely got media attention? Come on man. CNN, BBC, USA Today, The Guardian, The History Channel all has extensive coverage of it.

I've noticed two things about many Trump supporters:

1. They're incredibly angry. I don't mean the good kind of angry, the kind that gets you out of your chair and gets things done. Trumpies are angry in the sense that they are full of piss and vinegar, lashing out at everyone, while ignoring the real reasons for their "misery". Blaming other people -  that's what they do best. 

2. Many are also real stupid. Just read this article. I mean, it boggles the mind.

2Big, I do respect you and your right to say what you want.

The thing is with your statement above, it's not just the Trumpies as you categorized them or the Deplorables as Hillary categorized Trump supporters, the anger is on both sides and is not limited to Trump supporters.  BTW, I typically vote Republican. But Trump has me angry as well.  He no longer is representing my interests as far as I am concerned.  But then again, neither is anybody on the other side.

There is no civil discussion anymore.  

The Washington Post is a left leaning newspaper and will slant news towards the left.  CNN is left leaning.  Fox News is left leaning and will slant news towards the right.

As responsible citizens, we have to take what we read and hear and try to decipher what is really true.  We can't believe everything we read and hear from either side.  They will slant all information to fit their agenda.

We need to force our political leaders to listen to the other side and compromise to come to agreements that are for the good of all the citizens they are supposed to represent or face election defeats while we choose leaders who represent all the people, not just a few or themselves.

You admonish for generalizing and then do the exact same things. 

With the “fiscal accomplishments” you’re celebrating; can you list them? How about listing 5? Tax reform which so far hasn’t said how it’s going to pay for itself and really only seemed to help the upper class and businesses, but for the sake of this I’ll say that’s 1.  So 4 more. Actual, hard fact fiscal legislation that has passed and can be considered a major accomplishment for the country and individuals.

The problem, as I see it, is that instead of holding our politicians feet to the fire of moderatation and compromise, enough of us vote for those who promise them the moon instead of reality.  We (The People) keep electing the smooth talkers who tell us what we want.  This is especially true in primaries where candidates run on the fringe for ‘their base’; then try to creep back to the middle for the general election and snare some of that quiet, middle vote.  Their re-election campaign begins the night the polls close.  With our 23/7 news cycle, every time they even think of stepping to the middle after being elected, that vocal fringe drags them back with threats of abandonment.  It’s too bad the 22nd Amendment (Presidential Term Limits) didn’t also apply to Congress.

The President does not legislate but there are significant accomplishments as a result of his policies:

2: Deregulation (that has led to economic boom and #'s 3-5 below)

3. Near 3-4% GDP growth

4. Stock market rally to it's highest levels ever (way up until the Oct pullback)

5. Lowest unemployment in 50 years

P.S.  I think AOC is hot too but her policies are a disaster.
