Posted February 18, 2019 problem # 1 answer I believe is 96 problem # 2. there are several different answers possible. If the water is running full force bucket #1 will fill first as it will overflow as more water coming in than going out as the tap pipe appears to be larger than the drain pipes. . if not at full force then bucket # 3 will fill first as it has no outlets. So it depends on coming and going flows.

Posted February 19, 2019 IMHO 4 will fill up first because 2 will never fill up as water continues to flow to 7 which has a leak and 3 leaks to 4 as 5 backs up and forces more water to 4. In other words, water seeks the lowest level and path of least resistance. That's my story and I am sticking to it. BR

Look at which pipes are blocked so a bucket will never see water and which bucket has an opening in the bottom of the bucket so it will never fill and the bucket seeing it will never fill. I think Tank #1 will get filled first. It gets the water before the other tanks do. If the water from the spigot comes out fast enough, tank #1 will fill before it has a chance to drain into the other tanks Tank #3 will fill before tank #2 because tank 3 is smaller than tank number 3. Tank 7 will fill but it appears to have a hole at the bottom and will not hold water. I think the answer is tank #1 but need more information to make an educated guess.

Posted February 20, 2019 my math is a little rusty and I am no genius so here goes 3x(pistons) = 30 so piston = 10 1(p) + 2(tires) = 20 so tires = 2(t)=10 thus tires + 5 1 (t) + 2 (shocks) =9 thus 2(s) = 4 thus s = 2 lastly 5+2+10 = 17 this doesn't seem entirely right as this is grade school math and doesn't take a genius so maybe you fooled me. wouldn't be the first time in math or this hobby

Posted February 20, 2019 It’s 25. Megan is right The piston = 2
Posted February 20, 2019 It's only half the piston in the last equation so it's 1
Posted February 20, 2019 The answer is 15 multiply the value of the piston (10) to half the value of 2 shocks (value is (1) since there is only 1 shock present), then add the value of the tire (5). 10x1=10. 10+5=15 I hope I passed lol

One of those pesky math rules. Answer is 15. 20 minutes ago, fishndude57 said: Good catch on the piston I missed that too. Posted February 20, 2019 yes the answer is 15. I missed the multiplication........ going too fast..... sometimes that can be the problem even in the hobby!!! 5 + (1x10) =15
Posted February 20, 2019 I'm gonna have to buy into 15 as well. This one is a relatively tough one. On the others I got bucket 3, but even tho it's explained to me 10x over I still have a tough time getting to 96, but that is the correct answer I believe.
Posted February 20, 2019 Ask my phone( which I know is smarter than me) about the math multiplication rule and yes it's true no wonder my checkbook never balances oh well I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. A fun exercise too bad I don't points for not getting anything right😊🤔

That is now and always will be 19. The rest of the statements are just a diversion to distract one into wrong answers - 96 being one!! 😀
