Posted February 20, 2019 There are NO parentheses around the shock times the piston. Therefore the rule of multiplication before addition does not apply and you take the math problem in the order that the signs come in. The correct answer is Tire + (1) Shock x Piston or 5 + 1 x 10 = 60. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Posted February 20, 2019 Another wrinkle thrown into the problems which further confuses the situation glad there are great minds to figure this out 0 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Posted February 20, 2019 You are forgetting the order of operations PEMDAS. Parentheses, exponents, multiplication and division then addition and subtraction. So while there is no parentheses around the multiplication you still have to do that multiplication before you add. 7 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Posted February 21, 2019 I've run into these types of riddles before and if I follow the Rules of Pedmas, my answer is rated wrong. Mayne the guys creating the riddles don't know the rule of Pedmas and they need a lesson. If I follow the rule of Pedmas, the answer is 15. 0 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

This is a very eloquent statement of a law of math. It's not an opinion, is there any actual debate? 0 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Posted March 15, 2019 1 hour ago, Bit Banger said: 104 The way it’s written is “weird” but you’re correct that it’s 104. 50+50-25*0+2+2=? 50 + 50 - (25*0) + 2 + 2 = ? Add() and perform that operation first 50 + 50 - 0 + 2 + 2 = ? Remove the () Now order of operations even though it’s only + - 100 - 0 + 4 = 104 That breakdown wasn’t for you. Just showing how you/I got 104. 0 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Posted March 24, 2019 Look closely at #2. It doesn’t have rear feet. Other than that, all 3 are the same. So #2 is the one that is different. 0 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Look closely; #3 doesn’t have eyebrows.# 2 doesn’t have rear toes. 1 is the only fully complete cat. So #1 is the different one since #2 and #3 are missing something. While they’re missing different things, they’re missing something. “Missing something” makes them the same leaving #1 to be different. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
