Posted January 30, 2019 This is apparently a bug in the new iPhones and Group FaceTime. I haven’t seen any reports of this with older iPhones and regular FaceTime calling.

So if you’re on the newer phones look for that update.

You can always check with PCmag ,tech radar, or wired magazine. They often especially the first two have up to date information for the IOS and android platforms. If you are worried about FaceTime the you should read up on SIRI. Or when you do not intend to use the google home products or Alexa, Ring products make sure you hit the mic off button on the Google home it is located in the back near the aux cord input on the google dot it is a switch. Newer generations of Alexa like the echo plus it is located in the top. I have each of those devices and I make sure if I am not playing music to disable the Mic. With Alexa there will be a red ring that illuminates.
Posted January 30, 2019 The article referenced specifically stated the bug occurred when an iPhone X called an iPhone XR. So the bug does exist in the new iPhones. 2 hours ago, Calisurfgirl said: The iPhone XR and X do not have issues I have both phones and had seen this article in a gitbit forum awhile ago if you have a 8 or older they are the phones that can possibly have the issue. It further stated that any iPhone running iOS 12.1 or later is susceptible to the bug.
Posted January 30, 2019 (edited) Apple has pulled the Group function offline. Want to be extra careful, can totally turn off Facetime on your device. https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/ Appears any device that can run iOS 12.1 is affected by the audio part of the problem. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209022 Quote To use Group FaceTime video calls, you need an iPhone 6s or later, iPad Pro or later, iPad Air 2, or iPad Mini 4 with iOS 12.1. Earlier models of iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch that support iOS 12.1 can join Group FaceTime calls as audio participants. ADD: demo video of bug with X-family devices, so, they are not immune. https://youtube.com/watch?v=lI2za9p95r0 Edited January 30, 2019 by NoCoGeezer
