Why the reluctance to take credit and debit cards?

My comprehension skills are a hell of a lot better than yours.

Seeker said your suggestion was stupid.  He didn’t say you were stupid.

Bad Boy said your instructions were moronic.  He didn’t call you a moron.

There is a huge difference between saying something that was said was stupid or moronic and actually saying a person is stupid or a moron.

Your reply’s sound to me like you want to pick a fight with anyone who disagrees with you.

Very unfortunate you feel that way.

Splitting hairs.   Which is a moronic, idiotic, stupid thing to do.

This is a perfect reason why NOT to take credit cards

Some people you can’t reason with.

Think I’ll sit on the sidelines and eat some popcorn too

You can’t stop people from being shitty though. Yes someone will reverse a payment just like guys short providers of cash. Which I’m certain there are numerous stories of that happening as well.

But with the shortage of cash I guess it’s not a total loss??

Unfortunately there are douchbags everywhere. There are many stories on TOB where the guys pay in cash short the ladies.

Too bad the douchebags who short the ladies or deny the charges on the credit cards can’t be outed so everyone knows who they are.

I’m certain the ladies let each other know.

Two words, Apple Pay. It cannot be reversed with IOS 12, because you have to verify the amount before you send it to the receiver. Also if the client attempts to reverse the transaction apple will be willing to help you keep your hard earned funds. Not to mention what is the sending party going to say, my phone was stolen but they were still placing calls and accessing things that only the owner would repeat again. Apple, will not allow the funds to be reversed without a police report.

Nice! Might look into that. I loved taking credit cards until a few dumbasses had to ruin it for everyone else by retracting the payment.

I have a friend that refuses to use his rewards CC to pay his bar tab, at a restaurant bar.   Says he doesn't want his alcohol consumption to be tracked.  But then he uses the "untapped" app  to track the different beers he drinks.

Cash is king.  Unless a trusted friend is willing/wanting a gift card to someplace.

Ultimately it’s a trust issue. Cash is extremely trustworthy. Card transactions not so much.

In the past couple of days, there have been three reports (some on Switter), of douchebags that used credit cards and then reversed the charges afterwards, completely stiffing the YL.  In one case it was for a very extended visit, so it probably cost the YL upwards of $500, which is just plain theft.

Besides all of the other compelling reasons not to use or accept credit cards, I would think that this issue alone would keep the YLs from taking plastic.

I hope I die before cash vanishes.

Call me neive but my question is what is the difference between reversing/canceling a payment to a provider and going to something like the state fair or taste of Colorado or something and buying something expensive and then turn around and trying to reverse those charges......

Because the vendor has nothing to hide when disputing the reversal/cancellation. The illegal nature of the transaction leaves a provider with no recourse (except blacklisting).

Now Just some fruit for thought.... I HAVE just recently heard of the bank itself reversing charges on their own because of not being on a secure system if over a certain amount. A coworker of mine had that happen to him for something he ordered online.... The transaction went through and everything was good, but then he found out that his bank reversed it the next day on their own, because it was over $200 and it was not on a secure/trusted system (ie. The kind of established system that an actual brick and mortar store has)

*and he ordered jerseys by the way

So even though I believe there ARE those asshats that might do that, has anyone thought of the possibility of it NOT being the guy that reverses the charges but instead it's the bank itself

I have never heard of this, and I'm not finding anything about it online. Was this a local small bank?

I honestly don't know what bank it is and it actually caught me off guard hearing that as well.... First time I've heard it myself but it did raise questions that I thought I would throw out there to a community that likes to fact check things better then myself and if by chance there IS some kind of truth to it then maybe it could prevent a gentleman from being blacklisted right away if the lady at least tried to give the benefit of a doubt and check with them first that it was them and give the chance to make things right if he didn't catch it himself.....

I’ve never heard of this. Banks don’t reverse charges unless the account holder disputes a charge.

I know, I disputed 3 charges in the last week and cancelled my bank card because of unauthorized charges.

If I didn’t dispute them, they would have gone through.

I’vebhad banks stop a transaction in mid transaction while checking into a hotel out of state on biz. Had to talk to the fraud division to continue the transaction.

But have never heard of a bank reversing a charge without it being disputed.

Better yet, in your car.  You never know when the opportunity and urge will coincide away from home.

In fact, I keep a "FuckAid Kit" inside the FirstAid Kit in the trunk of my car:  $300 in Benjamins, two Skyy condoms, and one chewable 50 mg Viagra (just in case) all in a plain white envelope.  Has been just what the doctor ordered on several occasions and has saved many a day.

I'm a single and unattached gent and I still have a spot in my place for my "mad money".  It has worked out well and is reserved for playtime.

Paper trails are not a good thing as they form indictments out of such things...Despite the claims of bitcoin and other crypto currencies there is still a record of the transaction and that can never be erased, so the only way to insure  anonymity as cash...In God We Trust...Everyone else pays cash...

Gotta have an Apple for Apple Pay....I’m definitely looking into it. Again, only for trusted gents.

See there’s benefits to having a good reputation and being a good guy who treats a lady well.
