Hi Campers!

17 posts in this topic

This weekend I'm taking the Camper up to the Collegiate Peaks region, actually near Mt. Princeton.

There is a beautiful hot springs there:

But I am not stating there

Up the road is Chalk Lake:

I am staying right near there. The fishing is usually pretty good and there is the Chalk Creek right near there.

And then further up is a little ghost town, St. Elmo:

I will most likely be off line all weekend. Depends if I can get a signal up there.

I hope we don't hit any Stormy weather:cool:! Stormy weather can ruin a camping trip. But then again, I can duck inside the camper to escape Stormy weather.

Be safe everyone and play nice!

I once flew my hang-glider off of the top of Mt. Princeton.  It was just a few minutes before the launch window for a regional competition, and the competition pilots wanted to know what the conditions were like, so a buddy of mine signed me up to be a "wind dummy."  Well, based upon my launch and short flight they found out that there was deadly sink over the valley to the southwest (launch direction), and I barely made it out alive.  The fancy-ass competitors all waited about an hour for more lift and were just fine.

I went to the Hot Springs to recover and consider my decision making protocol.  Didn't help, I still make risky and poor decisions based upon insufficient information and analysis, but it was a nice hot soak in a beautiful environment.

Oh shoot. I was like 19, maybe 20! Me and my GF hiked up the Mesa trail above Boulder. Our desires got the best of us! And we did it on that mountain trail. We heard whistling and Woo Hoo’s lol . Embarrassed? Slightly, but satisfied, immensely.😎

So, point is, you might not be as alone as you think.!

Very cool! I have lived in BV and Salida off and on for many years, now I'm in Arvada. Better to enjoy what this board has to offer! Prefer cottonwood hot springs, they used to be clothing optional after 8 PM. Princeton is great though. Lots of good people and fun fishing there. Glad you enjoyed it.
