i have yet to find decent bbq in the denver area...Wayne's smoke shack in Superior  http://www.waynessmokeshack.com/ is close to decent.   Others will chime in on the bbq question.

GB fish and chips http://www.gbfishandchips.com/ is pretty good...they have a few locations around town.   in Arvada/Westminster area, try Yorkshire F&C  http://denverfishandchips.com/

both f&c shops are good grub!

Boneys on Champa is pretty good. They offer 3 styles of BBQ, Carolina, Memphis and Texan styles and sauces.

Georgia Boys in Longmont and Frederick is good for BBQ (go to Frederick: bigger location, bar, nice CO brew selection).

Been wanting to try Roaming Buffalo, as they have received good write-ups (including "Food & Wine" couple of days ago as being one of the best in CO) and have more unusual meats such as lamb, bison.

Russell's Smokehouse is also on my list: Frank Bonnano restaurant, so, will be more upscale bbq.

Will echo Wayne's as being probably best TX (brisket) bbq in the area (does not compare to real TX bbq, but, still nice).

Fish and chips... wow... been a long while. Wynkoop had a nice one last time I tried. Walnut/Rock Bottom used to have a nice smoked salmon fish and chips (been probably a decade since I've stepped into one of those). Amato's Ale House might be an option (believe they are owned by Wynkoop's parent company). And Pints Pub by the art museum is a British pub and should have it on the menu (can't vouch for it, as I've only gone in there to try one or two or more of their 250 whiskeys available).
