Posted July 23, 2018 Can anyone tell me if Sapphire Point is typically accessable early November? I wasn't sure how early the snow started up there. I went up in Late April last year and was surprised to find it still frozen. I didn't think of it as being that high up, until then! I'm not a local, so I don't know how "common" the place is, but it's on Swan Mountain, just up the mountain from Dillon. It's one of my absolute favorite places and I'd like to share it with a friend in November! Thanks for the info!

Posted July 24, 2018 Yeah, plan for possible snow. November can be real hit/miss re: snow. Can remember a trip to Steamboat over Thanksgiving and there was no snow there, had to go hiking, horseback riding. But then again, any area could get slammed with snow. Heck, been to places where trail still covered in deep snow and still flurries early July.
Posted July 24, 2018 At just over 9000 feet elevation it would be a rare year indeed with no snow in November. The ski resorts like to open by Thanksgiving. Still gorgeous in winter, just dress warm.

Posted July 24, 2018 I used to have a place near pine junction a little off of hwy 285. I always said, when it would snow in October, I wouldn’t see bare ground again until the end of April.

I have been up there in April to find it still a wintery wonderland! lol Just wasn't sure when the snow fall started. Thanks for the info!
Posted July 24, 2018 Last winter, even the mountains didn’t get snow. Well below average snowpack. We’re going to pay some winter in the near future for snowless winters we’ve had the last 2 years here in Denver.
