Posted June 16, 2018 It sounds like a lovely idea but my instincts say no. It’s possible there will be a nosey, jealous, cat lady next door documenting any movement and cockblocking... or there is cameras hidden that live stream to porn hub... or the owner notices and calls police or blackmails you for services to allow you to conduct business. I know I have a colorful imagination lol but so many things can go wrong. I prefer places with a lot of traffic. Posted June 16, 2018 I've seen a recent provider at an Airbnb, everything was fine until I realized that she had another person staying in the house that day. It made for an awkward initial meeting and having to come up with a quick response as the third party was in the living area making conversation. If I recall, I believe my excuse was that we were classmates from college. Eventually we made our way into the room and I could hear the individual walking around throughout the visit. Posted June 16, 2018 This was discussed before in another thread. Although if often works out fine, if the owner\renter of the place gets wind of it you have a huge problem as they are usually more than willing to help LEO in any way. As also stated, nosey neighbors may well be an increased risk to drop a dime to the owner. Posted June 16, 2018 Seem to recall in the thread mentioned above, there was a link to a story where the AirBnB owner was secretly filming the renters. Yes, the AirBnB agreement states owner is not supposed to be doing that, but until they get caught... Posted June 16, 2018 (edited) My ATATF, who travels a lot, swears by AirBnB, and I have visited her in three of them, and they were great! Nice, private, easy parking, etc. I think the key is to choose carefully. Also, lower volume helps out a lot: it's easier to explain three visitors per day than twelve. Posted June 16, 2018 No, she only has 1-3 visitors, which was my point. Any person staying in an AirBnB is expected to have a couple of visitors - that is pretty legit. My point was that if you had a bunch more it gets harder to explain (especially if they are all old dudes who stay exactly 60 minutes). Posted June 22, 2018 In the past I've used Airbnb countless times. For the most part it goes fine, and I like the part about being able to move quickly if I meet up with a creep. Usually the spot I rent is nicer than my own House but I have had times where I just lost money on the rental because of shiesty circumstances that I couldn't really control or I rented in a area not good for those purposes. Something not too heavy. Cause you don’t want to feel bloated and gross. Not seafood cause not everyone likes seafood. Something fast but not premade. You still want to impress and still have time for other activities. Enough for just two cause no leftovers. But a little extra if someone wants seconds. Not too much prep cause you don’t want to have to worry about dishes. Find out allergies and dietary restrictions first.
