Probably the most famous of the local companies was Odyssey . Wow...I remember Odyssey. They were the only Colorado company from Colorado that I knew about and this was back in the 90's. I haven't heard that name for years. Thanks.

When I met Hal during the Adult Film Association years ( which evolved into Adult Video Association and is now Free Speech Coalition ) ,it was legal to exhibit porn in theaters ( this was obviously pre VHS ) ,but not to make them. Thanks to Hal and his lawyers taking the fight to legally make them ,its now legal .That does NOT mean someone whips out a video camera as a defense. There is currently a long list of things one has to adhere to,including having a shooting permit and having a business license. Here is the condensed wiki version of what happened and the legal definition of the difference between porn and the hobby. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_v._Freeman Too bad - filming all of our dates to make it legal would be so much fun to manage across the internet and social media platforms - because we all know they would forever remain private and always deleted upon request - and never resurface or be used as leverage or or or...
Posted June 3, 2018 Good catch Laci - and good on ya for sharing!!! Anything that can help everyone make smarter choices in the hobby is valuable 411. Scams are a part of our lives every day. The robocallers, the letters exploiting logos to fool consumers, the mortgage world, credit cards, etc. Education is the root of all evil! Hopefully your post will educate those previously unaware and they can circumvent the lure of supposedly ridiculously easy windfall! There's a lot of porn, amateur and professional, videos posted all over the internet where guys are supposedly meeting women on the street and offering them thousands for a good time if they let them film it - no doubt the uneducated masses may interpret this as 'real' and want a piece of that pie. I hope someone does reach out to them Monday - my guess is they are aware of it. But just in case they aren't...

Filming your dates wlil NOT make it legal. Go read the hyper link to the Freeman Act. ( ladies are right about reading )
Posted June 3, 2018 I know - was making a joke - have read it before as this is a topic that has been discussed again and again... I'm the biggest fan of the 'private'-ness of this hobby - I would no more film my dates than (insert something no one would do here)...

A bit of history: the founder moved part of his operation to LA,later he sold the company and It has changed hands, but is still around as Odyssey Group Video . After the sale, the main videographer started up Milton Productions and ran that until he died . OGV has reissued all their Denver shot footage on DVD, not sure where the Milton Productions footage went ,although rumor has it his sister inherited it. Several of the the local talent went to LA and turned pro ,Leena being the biggest star to come out of that scene . Curious, do you recall Odyssey Magazine ? It was a slick hard core quarterly sold only in adult book stores The photography was excellent and it had listings similar to TOB. He published the magazine a couple of years before he started producing adult films and continued both until the sale.

Posted June 3, 2018 I was never a big patron of Kittie’s or the other stores around town so I don’t remember the Oddesy magazine. Now the Oyster I do remember. In the early 80’s Kittie’s and the other bookstores had ladies behind glass.

Reminds YOU of being old ?? Care to trade places ? I reviewed adult movies for both magazines before home video was invented . Nothing like sitting in Kittys various theaters taking notes. LA XPress still exists btw. As for Odyssey Magazine, unlike the Oyster, their distribution was very limited. Probably due to the fact that they had ladies giving blowjobs on the cover. It was a thick ,glossy, all color hardcore magazine . Where the Oyster was free, Odyssey was expensive. Still have copies of it in my resume collection.

Posted June 4, 2018 Technically, the newspaper was named "The Rocky Mountain Oyster", if I recall correctly. But everyone just called it "Oyster", as that was the big text in the banner/logo ("The Rocky Mountain Oyster").

There are hundreds of ladies and guys for that matter eagerly seeking them out and unless you are the Octo-Mom or a Kardashian, it is unlikely they will be seeking you out. A few years ago, some schmuck was using the "BangBros" name trying to solicit providers to shoot amateur scenes for that company. Needless to say he was a fraud, but a handful of girls were tricked into falling for his bullshit. Be very careful and always ask for his credentials, including the business phone number (which you will double check to verify it's legitimacy) and follow up with a phone call to the company before taking it any further. xoxo Out of likes for the day! Damn! I know this Shmuck! It was last year he tried to get In contact with me also Danielle! Such a loser! If it sounds too good to be true? Chances are it is! I thank JR also for his insight into helping pick out the fakes with his valuable information on knowing what kind of Questions to ask! So sorry it happened to you also Laci thanks for speaking out! We answered the phones "Rocky Mountain Oyster ," and yes, we called it The Oyster ourselves. If you look at the old press pass in my avatar, that event called us R.M. Oyster. Some people even called us "RMO". But the majority said "Oyster." (Have a ton of press passes and ID cards, but they all have my face on them, which is a TOB no no for guys ,thus the one used ) Rocky Mountain Oyster was the name of the publication and it was a division of Mountaintop Publishing for the majority of its existence. Posted June 5, 2018 I got his text too. He insisted that he was legit and very serious. So I told him that he can visit my site and if he's still interested he could submit my arrangements form. I'd be happy to screen him and afterwards we can get him scheduled at my regular hourly rate. If he's pleased with my skills he could tip me the remaining $7800 balance. He stopped talking. 😁😂😁
