Everyone should know CPR.  You don't know when you may be in the situation where you could be the difference between someone living and dying.

A lot of businesses will allow a class at work so everyone can learn CPR. Or you can contact the American Heart Association about where you can take a class.

Either way, learn CPR...You just might save a life someday.

Laci, I hope your love bug is doing well. Kudos to you for doing the right thing - sticking around and offering what assistance you can.

Don’t forget 911, though difficult to dial while administering CPR. If you’re worried about discretion, remember - nothing (your ID, his ID, what you were doing, ...) is hidden if your friend dies; getting help is the right answer.

Some of us carry nitro tablets, but check about ED drugs prior to use. The combination can be deadly!

knowing CPR is probably a must for us providers. I know that had I been in Lovebug's situation, you are the provider that I would want to have with me. I'm sure you handled it with compassion and expertise. xo

I know a provider that had this happen to her as well. And she knows as well CPR, so, that ended well as well.

And even if not trained, a newish guideline is to just do the chest compressions as it has been shown to have a similar survival rate as "standard" CPR, and is easier to do.

Leaving should never be an option! Answering questions about a medical emergency is a lot more easier than answering questions about a fatlity.

I've been certified for CPR among other things for many years now. I would definitely do my duty and care for the person as if they were my own family.

And seriously if the roles were reversed you sure would want him to stick around.

Laci, you did a kind and humane thing yesterday and I'm still lifting you and your lovebug up for healing and strength.

Cecilia,

From my understanding Laci stayed with her client until the paramedics arrived.

You do make a very good point about knowing CPR tho! I got my WSI many years ago while in college. I think it is high time for me to redo the  CPR part update and become certified once more! Allot has changed since the 1980’s. That is for certain my friend!

Laci’s story is a wakeup call for us all!

Call 911.. they can walk you through it, even if you are in a panic and forget exactly what to do.

I've actually had this thought before, wondering what would happen if someone were to have a medical emergency during an appointment.  Sounds like you sprung to action and did the right thing.  Recognizing symptoms quickly and getting 911 involved ASAP is super important.

Laci.....I have been in your situation many, many years ago before I was a heaux. And God willing, got a pat on the rump from the EMTs. I am current with my first aid and CPR, gentlemen!

Yes sweetie, Laci absolutely stayed.

My comment was worded in response to her questions about knowing CPR and how one would respond.

This should certainly be a wake up call for all of us, clients and providers. Clients if you take any enhancement meds please let us know, if for no other reason but this one. Providers, don't leave your companion in a time of need. Nothing is more important than saving a life. Raine is correct, 911 personnel can walk anyone through the steps until help arrives.

It is true, that CPR is worth knowing for anyone.  And it's also true that only around 1% of people who arrest/heart attack outside of a hospital survive, even with CPR.   This is for adults.  Different for kids.

Definitely agree about the enhancers, because they can drop blood pressure precipitously specifically if the person is on nitrates (nitroglycerin).

I'm not saying that knowing CPR isn't a good thing - only that it isn't magical like on TV.  99% of the time the person will die.  Chances improve with an AED, but most people don't have them lying around (they're expensive and require training).   It just sucks all the way around. :(

You do realize if done with required force to do any good, you will have cracked sternum and/or ribs and bruising??? B)

I absolutely agree that it is a good idea for everyone to take cpr and first aid training, get certified, and renew annually.  I have been certified for years and had occasion to use the training more than once.  That said, a couple things.  Every training I have ever taken is pretty clear - if someone is in bad enough circumstance to need cpr (not breathing, and/or no pulse) CALL 911 FIRST.  Then follow their instruction and/or try cpr.  If the problem is heart attack and they are not breathing their only realistic chance is a handy AED as Phil-anderer noted or emt getting there as fast as possible.  Just cpr, probably a gonner.

I was hoping that the mouth-to-mouth part by Laci and her friends would make up for the cracked ribs

And yet EVERY SECOND counts.   You may survive, but the longer your brain is w/o O2, the worse off you’ll be afterwards.

A friend was at a walking event when the person next to her collapsed.  She did CPR while her husband tag teamed for respiration, and someone else contacted 911 and the event medics. All for a successful outcome.

99.99% of providers would just hightail it out of there. I don't blame them. How you gonna explain why you're in a hotel room with a guy whose name you don't know?

To the guys: if you have a heart condition and you go to a hooker: sorry, it's on you, if an when you keel over.

I lived this yesterday and I want everyone here to take a few moments to consider what you would do. If you don’t know cpr learn it and do not ever just leave someone. The  good Samaritan law is in place to protect you.

Please no jokes.

Can't imagine this happening.

Thanks, Laci. It has been my intention to sign up for a CPR class for years. Now it is going to be more than an intention. If you weren't so far from me I would attend yours.

Actually the AED doesn’t require training. Well, at least not all of them. The pads have instructions and the device literally walks you through every step once it’s turned on. They are about a grand though. But good comment nonetheless.

That IS my worst nightmare!! All the more reason to get re-certified! I still can't believe you went through that.

A real life friend had her client pass away during a session,no time to save  him, back in the 90s.  She left the adult video industry and stopped escorting as a result and has had the occasional nightmare ever since. We are still friends and lunch often . Sometimes she brings up that awful experience. Always wishing that there was something she could have done, even though he just dropped dead on top of her.

KUDOS to you Laci for wanting to set up a CPR teaching session. May it save many lives and give confidence to others on what to do.
